Academic Labs Leverages AI and Crypto to Make Quality Education Accessible Globally

SINGAPORE, Sept 21, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – Academic Labs, an emerging player in the global edtech space, has announced the official launch of its new online learning platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology to deliver personalized and engaging education experiences.

“Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has the potential to greatly enhance the learning experience. It can provide personalized learning paths, adapt to the learning pace of individual students, and provide instant feedback. This can help in identifying and addressing gaps in understanding much faster than traditional methods,” commented John Ng Pangilinan, Board Advisor at Academic Labs and the founder & managing partner at Signum Capital.

Academic Labs aims to disrupt the e-learning sector by creating a decentralized, community-driven platform that makes quality education accessible to all, especially students in developing countries.

At the core of Academic Labs’ offering is an AI-based engine that provides adaptive learning pathways personalized to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. The system analyzes large volumes of data to understand the learning patterns and pain points of individuals. It then prescribes targeted content and assessments to address knowledge gaps.

This data-driven approach also enables educators and institutions to gain key insights into student performance and engagement. The platform further leverages AI and machine learning to reduce administrative tasks, allowing teachers to dedicate more time to teaching and mentorship.

In addition to AI, Academic Labs also incorporates blockchain technology and token-based incentives to facilitate transactions between platform participants. Users can earn Academic Labs’ Ethereum-based utility token, ACAD, by consuming educational content, performing well on assessments, and providing feedback.

“The decentralization offered by these tokens is quite promising. As opposed to relying on traditional financial systems, the ACAD tokens make cross-border transactions simpler and less costly,” said John Ng Pangilinan. “Additionally, the tokens are an integral part of the gamified learning approach taken by Academic Labs. Students can earn these tokens as they advance in their learning, providing both an incentive and a sense of accomplishment.”

ACAD tokens allow learners to pay for courses and access premium platform features. Educators can also be rewarded in ACAD tokens for creating engaging content. This token-based economy aims to nurture a vibrant educational ecosystem.

While integrating cutting-edge technology, Academic Labs also has a strong social purpose. The team aims to collaborate with non-profits to provide free access to their platform for disadvantaged students globally. The adaptive AI system makes quality learning content accessible to these students in a personalized manner.

“Academic Labs, with its mission of leveraging blockchain and AI technologies, is at the forefront of this educational transformation. The platform is designed to deliver highly adaptive and fun learning experiences in these critical areas. Importantly, it’s making these subjects accessible to anyone, globally. The goal here is not just about imparting knowledge, but about equipping individuals with skills that can empower them in the rapidly changing digital landscape,” commented John Ng Pangilinan.

The focus areas for Academic Labs’ curriculum include English communication, programming, cryptography, and blockchain application development. Students can progress through self-paced courses and interactive modules covering these subjects via gamified lesson content.

Academic Labs has also launched an ‘NFT Scholarship Program’ where high-performing students can receive Non-Fungible Token (NFT) certificates. These NFTs will contain metadata reflecting the student’s credentials and achievements.

According to Ng, “My educational background indeed plays a significant role in shaping my investment strategy, especially in emerging technologies. Studying both Mechatronics and Business gave me a unique understanding of technology and its intersection with commerce. This dual perspective allows me to evaluate tech startups not only based on their technological innovation but also on their business models, market potential, and their ability to generate sustainable growth.”

His bullish outlook on AI and blockchain technologies was a key driver behind his strategic investment into Academic Labs.

The innovative edtech startup has already attracted funding from several crypto native venture capital firms who share the founders’ vision. Academic Labs aims to collaborate with educational institutions and content creators worldwide to expand its catalog of learning content.

With this technology-focused approach, Academic Labs hopes to spearhead the transformation of online education and training for learners of all ages and backgrounds.

About Academic Labs

Academic Labs is developing an AI WEB 3 Education platform that uses its native token ACAD to incentivize content developers to create fun gamified learning content, quizzes and videos focusing on learning English and Blockchain knowledge/programming. Good quality content developers can monetize their work using PUBLISHER NFTS and achieve REPUTATION NFTs from users’ feedback on their work.

Powering a Sustainable Future with BLUETTI Solar Solutions

SYDNEY, AU / ACN Newswire / September 22, 2023 /In today’s rapidly changing world, the importance of protecting our environment and embracing sustainable living practices has become more evident than ever before. The undeniable impacts of climate change, including escalating greenhouse gases, rising sea levels, warmer oceans, and increasing ocean acidity, underscore the urgent need for action.

Embracing Clean Energy in a Changing Climate

The prevailing use of fossil fuels is the prime driver behind climate change, necessitating a transition towards renewable energy sources. Among these, solar energy is an accessible and economical alternative to traditional fuels. With just a few solar panels on rooftops or balconies, everyone can harness clean and free solar power whenever the sun shines. This transformation is easier than one might imagine-some adventurous souls even outfit their recreational vehicles with solar panels to revel in reliable power on the move.

However, relying solely on a solar system may not guarantee uninterrupted power during overcast days or grid outages. This is where BLUETTI comes in as a pioneer in the energy storage sector, offering game-changing solutions designed to store excess solar energy for overnight or emergency use, and capable of providing both AC and DC power to a wide range of devices.

BLUETTI: A Commitment to Green Innovation

BLUETTI is dedicated to advancing clean energy technology and promoting a sustainable way of life. The very essence of BLUETTI’s name reflects its core values: the “BLUE” sky it strives to protect, the promise of “Tomorrow” driven by technology, and the spirit of “Innovation.” Through a strong commitment to empowering communities and individuals with clean energy solutions, BLUETTI envisions a future where green energy is accessible to all, fostering both sustainability and innovation.

At the heart of BLUETTI’s offerings lies the use of eco-friendly Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. Compared to lead-acid batteries, they are inherently stable and non-combustible and free from outgassing, fumes, and leaks. Their life span is up to ten times that of lead-acid batteries, giving a lengthy service life of up to 3,500 cycles and minimal maintenance costs. What’s more, BLUETTI’s products are uniquely made to seamlessly integrate solar charging both from its folding panels and other brands. A standout illustration of this approach is embodied by the AC300 system, renowned for its versatility and efficiency.

BLUETTI AC300 System: Empowering Sustainable Living

The AC300 system has garnered widespread acclaim for its ability to facilitate power outage preparedness and promote a greener lifestyle. This system serves as a responsive UPS, instantly supplying 3,000W power to essential appliances within a mere 20 milliseconds of a grid failure. This swift response safeguards vital data and sustains daily routines without interruption.

One of the AC300’s standout features is its modular structure, accommodating one to four B300 batteries. This flexibility translates to a capacity range of 3,072Wh to an impressive 12,288Wh. Households could tailor their backup systems to their specific needs. For those equipped with diverse solar arrays, a personalized battery configuration can store surplus solar energy for nighttime use or emergencies. Notably, the AC300 system can harness solar energy at a maximum rate of 2,400W during daylight hours, efficiently fueling the AC300+B300 system in just 1.8 to 2.3 hours.

This 3,072Wh setup can power a spectrum of appliances. For instance, it can run an 800W refrigerator for 3 hours, a 1,500W heater for 1.7 hours, and an 8,000 BTU AC unit for 3-5 hours, ensuring well-lit and functional households. The mobility and modular nature of the system, coupled with efficient solar charging, make it a reliable resource for off-grid power during activities such as RVing, on-site work, and barn living. Its applications extend even further-a 100W projector can operate for 26 hours, a 500W kettle for 5.2 hours, and a 1,500W electric hammer for 1.7 hours. Astonishingly, it can even power a 1,800W electric vehicle, extending its range by another 16.5 miles. Those with extensive solar arrays on their rooftops can achieve heightened energy independence, powering both their homes and vehicles.

The good news is that BLUETTl is offering great savings on AC300 products. The AC300+B300 combo is now only $4,998. If adding a BLUETTI PV350 folding panel, normally sells for $1,399, to this combo for only $99, you could save $1,300 directly.

For larger households, BLUETTI presents another alternative, the EP500Pro, whose bundle with one PV350 solar panels enjoys a $1,399 drop from its MSRP of $7,698. This all-in-one power station has a 3,000W inverter and a fixed capacity of 5,100Wh, enough to power most household appliances. It also ensures a seamless power supply during blackouts and a greener lifestyle with its responsive UPS function and 1,200W solar charging.

Beyond Solar Products: Green Actions for a Brighter Future

While BLUETTI’s solar solutions make a significant impact, there are numerous other small actions we can take to promote environmental stewardship.

Start by minimizing single-use plastics – carry a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, and shopping bags.Opt for energy-efficient appliances and switch off lights when not in use.Embrace public transport, biking, or walking to reduce carbon emissions.Support local and organic products to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation and pesticides.Conserve water by fixing leaks and using efficient fixtures.Plant trees and create green spaces to combat urban heat islands and promote biodiversity.Reduce meat consumption or try a plant-based diet – livestock agriculture is a major contributor to greenhouse gases.Spread awareness through conversations and social media to inspire others. The list could go on and on. Living green doesn’t require monumental changes. Every small effort, when multiplied across millions, has the potential to heal and preserve our planet for future generations.

Your Role in the Green Revolution

As responsible global citizens, the time for action is now. By adopting renewable and clean energy solutions, we can make an immediate and lasting impact on our environment. With summer ushering in the high-yield season for solar energy, the combination of a BLUETTI battery and solar panels presents a remarkable opportunity to live a low-carbon, environmentally friendly life. Remember, as the saying goes, “Without renewables, there can be no future.” Let’s stand together, embrace clean energy, and pave the way for a sustainable and thriving planet.

Singapore’s Former Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister George Yeo Spoke at A Last Parade of the Flying Tigers – Family Office Symposium Co-organised by Decode Group

SINGAPORE / ACN Newswire / September 22, 2023 / Former Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr George Yeo paid tribute to 103-year-old Captain Ho Weng Toh, who he described “as a man with a strong sense of moral purpose”. Captain Ho is one of the last survivors of the “Flying Tigers”, comprising of a group of volunteer American and overseas Chinese pilots who fought against the Japanese in World War II.

More than 100 guests celebrated Captain Ho’s accomplishments at A Last Parade of the Flying Tigers. It also marked the commencement of the production of a short film based on his life, co-sponsored by Decode Group and Singapore’s IMDA.

Decode Group is honoured to sponsor this milestone event, as Captain Ho is an exemplary figure and his spirit of resilience should be remembered for generations. “Sponsoring this event reflects Decode’s dedication to making a positive impact in our community. We believe the short film will allow the younger generation to reflect on Ho’s values and inspire them to continue pursuing their dreams bravely and with pride. For Decode, we affirm our commitment to building a stronger financial future together with our partners and clients,” said Mr. Ivan Lew, CEO of Decode Global Capital.

Captain Quay Chew Eng, former Senior VP of Singapore Airlines, commended that “Captain Ho’s accomplishment contributed immensely to the success of Singapore Airlines. His reputation as the Chief Pilot of the 737 fleet preceded him and he was deeply admired.”

The Flying Tigers are revered in China for their heroic efforts to defend China. “I feel really honoured that Decode and the organisers are letting the people of Singapore know what we have achieved in the past,” acknowledged Captain Ho.

Captain Ho attributed his survival in the war to “tenacity in the face of adversity”. The Family Office Symposium discussed how this value is especially relevant to the private wealth industry today. Mr. George Yeo shared how the financial industry can navigate the future with resilience amidst heightened tensions between nations such as U.S.-China and Russia-Ukraine. He posed some thought-provoking considerations for family offices when making investment decisions. “Does it lead to a positive sum? Does it make human life fuller and more abundant or does it take away from us?”

Speakers at the symposium included international speakers including Mr. Ivan Lew, CEO of Decode Global Capital, Mr. Philip Von Wullfen, co-head of JAB Consumer Fund and Mr. Shervin Pishevar, a super angel investor named by the FORBES Midas List.

The event is co-organised and supported by Decode Group, Grid Synergy, the Family Office Alliance and Singapore Airlines.

Hong Kong Dinner in London returns after 4-year hiatus

London, Sept 21, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – After a four-year absence due to the pandemic, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) once again organised the annual Hong Kong Dinner in London to celebrate Hong Kong-UK ties and promote business opportunities and growth globally.

Speaking at the Hong Kong Dinner in London, HKTDC Chairman Dr Peter K N Lam said that the HKTDC looks forward to strengthening ties between the UK and Hong Kong business communities in the years ahead.
Speaking at the Hong Kong Dinner in London, HKTDC Chairman Dr Peter K N Lam said that the HKTDC looks forward to strengthening ties between the UK and Hong Kong business communities in the years ahead.

Hong Kong and the UK have long shared strong bilateral economic and business relations. In spite of the disruptions of the past few years, the partnership remained strong, with the UK becoming Hong Kong’s second-largest trading partner in Europe in 2022.

With this dinner, the HKTDC, also aimed to reaffirm Hong Kong’s position as a leading international finance, business and investment hub and gateway between Mainland China and the UK and beyond.

At the dinner, Dr Peter K N Lam, Chairman of the HKTDC, delivered his opening remarks to some 400 business leaders from the UK and Hong Kong: “Hong Kong’s fundamental strengths continue to position it as the go-to platform for UK businesses to access the vast China and Asia markets. Hong Kong is a key city in the rapidly growing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The HKTDC will continue to help UK businesses succeed in Asia by connecting them with arising opportunities in the region.”

The dinner’s guest of honour Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR, remarked: “In the past few years, the business communities in the UK and Hong Kong have faced many global challenges. As Peter noted, our bilateral trade is solid. And we’re still home to more than 650 UK companies and thousands of UK expats – most, if not all, of them happy that business, and rugby, are back in Hong Kong. That, I’d say, speaks well of our traditionally strong cultural ties and long-standing people-to-people bonds.”

Mr. Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR, welcomed UK businesses, consultants, and professionals to participate in the infrastructure development of the Northern Metropolis and a large-scale reclamation project at Kau Yi Chau.

Additionally, Hong Kong has introduced financial services and innovation and technology initiatives aimed at driving the city’s economic future. Hong Kong will also press ahead with innovation and technology (I&T) development by actively strengthening collaboration with sister cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. More innovative policies will be taken forward together to spur the development of the Northern Metropolis as an I&T hub. In particular, there is promising prospect for green tech and green finance.

The Hong Kong Dinner in London has been a long-standing tradition, taking place annually since 1983.

Guests at this year’s event included Mr Martin Barrow, Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd; Mr Colin Bell, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Plc; Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu, Chairman of Far East Consortium International Limited; Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce; Mr Jack So Chak-kwong, Chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong; Baroness Dunn, DBE, Honorary President of the Hong Kong Association; Mr Ian Galbraith, Group Board Director-Strategy of Mott MacDonald; Mr John Greenwood, Chief Economist of the International Monetary Monitor; and Dr Gerard Lyons, Board Member of Bank of China (UK).

ZUG, SWITZERLAND / ACN Newswire / September 21, 2023 / The first of its kind, Horizon has the potential to make plastic overcaps a relic of the past. The new shallow metal overcaps are infinitely recyclable and ultra-lightweight, meaning fewer raw materials are needed, benefiting the environment. Horizon will provide a visually appealing and sustainable product whilst maintaining optimal product protection for dry storage cupboard essentials. Fully customisable, Horizon brings any dry product packed in metal cans a seamless look and feel and tins become easily stackable for maximum efficiency, creating more space in consumers’ homes.

According to Greenpeace1, The British Plastics Federation estimates that 46% of the UK’s plastic waste is incinerated, 19% is exported, and 17% ends up in landfill. Through Horizon, Eviosys is facilitating the removal of environmentally harmful single-use plastic, replacing it with 100% recyclable fully metal packaging.

In a recent consumer survey* by Eviosys, 81% of Europeans said they care about the environment, with 74% considering metal packaging more sustainable than plastic, yet this isn’t being reflected on supermarket shelves.

According to the Environmental Investigation Agency and Greenpeace2, total plastic packaging used by the UK’s biggest supermarkets rose from an estimated 886,000 tonnes in 2017 to 903,000 tonnes in 2018. With Horizon, Eviosys offers brands a product that will satisfy the growing environmentally conscious mindsets of end consumers.

Olivier Aubry, Chief Commercial Officer, at Eviosys said:

“Horizon is the latest example of Eviosys leading the packaging sector with action, not just rhetoric. Our continuous drive to create sustainable packaging solutions through innovation is providing our customers with cheaper, more effective and sustainable products.”

Horizon builds on Eviosys’ ambitious ESG program, Preserve Together, using innovation to drive progress and sustainability in the sector.

Eviosys will be exhibiting Horizon alongside a wider range of products at Stand G30 at this year’s London Packaging Week. Visit the stand to find out more.

*Survey commissioned by Eviosys and conducted by Focaldata in September 2022. Samples consisted of 500 participants from each of UK, France, Germany and Spain, making up a Europe-wide sample of 2,000 participants.
