It becomes the first state with released quarantine restrictions on entering for Hong Kong travellers and will gradually open to more countries or regions, aiming to attract more students to travel, study and experience there. The initiation of Singapore's travel bubble enables students of the Group to kick off study tours and exchanges, consolidating the Group's principle of international education.

The Edvantage Group (0382.HK) Has Capacity Expansion and Student Number Growth in 2 Colleges

HONG KONG, Oct 20, 2020 – (ACN Newswire) – Edvantage Group Holdings Limited ("Edvantage Group" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries, the "Group"; stock code: 0382.HK), the largest private higher education group in the Greater Bay Area is pleased to announce the results of new student registration and the average tuition fee of two private higher educational institutions, Huashang College Guangdong University of Finance & Economics ("Huashang College" or the "College") and Guangzhou Huashang Vocational College ("Huashang Vocational College" or the "Vocational College"). Benefited from the continuous innovation of the high-end curriculum provided by schools of Edvantage Group to meet the urgent needs of today's society for talents especially in the fields of big business, big health, IT and new media, and the majority of students and parents' pursuit and support for the Huashang's brand with the recognition of school-running ability as well as the operation of new Sihui campus in Zhaoqing City, the registration rate of new students in the 2020/2021 school year of the College and the Vocational College has reached a record high, the average tuition fee has also recorded a considerable increase, and the quality of the new student has continued to improve.

Huashang College's new student registration rate hits a record high and the quality of new students improves significantly
Huashang College is located in Zengcheng District of Guangzhou City and Sihui of Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. It is a full-time high-level applied undergraduate college with distinct features of finance and economics, covering economics, management, literature, engineering, art, science, medicine and other disciplines. As of 19 October 2020, the number of new students registered for the 2020/2021 school year of Huashang College was 7,041, of which 5,044 were recruited from unified enrolment and 1,997 were recruited from junior college to degree transfer program. The overall registration rate was 95.94%, recorded a significant increase of 4.12 percentage points compared to last year's overall report rate of 91.82%; the average tuition fee for new students increased by 5.38% from RMB 27,973 last year to RMB 29,478.

Given the large pool of students in the Greater Bay Area, the quality of students has also steadily improved. The college's unified recruitment in Guangdong Province's liberal arts score line significantly exceeded the undergraduate score line by 34 points; the score line for science exceeded the undergraduate score line by 33 points, increased by 3 points and 5 points respectively compared with last year. In addition, there were 6,038 candidates who applied for the junior college to degree transfer program of Huashang College this year, ranking first in the province's independent colleges. The popularity of Huashang College's junior college to degree transfer program has increased year by year; At the same time, the quality of students has reached a new high. The lowest admission score line for popular majors such as accounting, marketing, journalism, English, and visual communication design far exceeds the provincial control line by 80-97 points. The Group believes that the continuous improvement of admission scores not only reflects the higher level of school-running, but also provides us with the best evidence for a steady stream of high-quality students.

The quality and quantity of new students in Huashang Vocational College have risen, and the registration rate of new students remains a record high despite the substantial expansions of enrolment
Huashang Vocational College is also located in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. It shares a campus with Huashang College. At present, it has formed a multi-disciplinary major coordinated development trend that focuses on business, engineering, and big health, and actively expands education, art design and modern service professional groups. As of 19 October 2020, the number of new students registered for the 2020/2021 school year of vocational college has risen from 4,459 last year to 6,034, representing a YoY increase of 35.32%, and the registration rate is 85.21%, which is 2.07 percentage points higher than the 83.14% registration rate recorded last year; The average tuition fee increased by 8.56% from last year's RMB 16,042 to RMB 17,416. It is worth mentioning that the enrolment plan of the Vocational College this year has increased by about 2,000 people compared with last year. Under this premise, the registration rate can still reach a record high, which fully confirms the Group's differentiated schooling achievements. In addition, the quality of students has also continued to rise. The lowest admission score line of the Vocational College in Guangdong Province for science subjects exceeded the admission score line of Guangdong Province of 134 points, which saw a 22-point increase compared to last year.

2016 Tang Prize Laureates Doudna and Charpentier Winners of 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Oct 7, 2020 – (ACN Newswire) – The news was announced today that 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was jointly awarded to 2016 Tang Prize laureates, Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier and Dr. Jennifer Doudna for the development of a method for genome editing. It marked the second time that Tang Prize recipients became Nobel Prize winners, with the first time being 2014 Tang Prize winners Dr. James P. Allison and Dr. Tasuku Honjo awarded Nobel Prizes in 2018.

Tang Prize Laureates Doudna and Charpentier are Winners of 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Sharing the enormous pleasure brought by this glory, Dr. Jenn-Chuan Chern, CEO of the Tang Prize Foundation, immediately offered them his heartfelt congratulations, while also expressed his deep gratitude to the Tang Prize selection committee for having the great foresight to choose two laureates whose achievements are universally recognized.

Though living in two continents far away from each other, France's leading microbiologist Dr. Charpentier and world-renown American RNA expert Dr. Dounda met in 2011 at a conference in Puerto Rico. This chance encounter heralded the beginning of their collaboration. Together, they successfully transform CRISPR/Cas (CRISPR-associated proteins), an adaptive immune defensive system originally found in bacteria and archaea, into a two component system (Cas9 and a single guide RNA). CRISPR/Cas9 is a simple, programmable and efficient genome-editing method that is able to deliver multiple single gRNAs simultaneously to target and remove unwanted genes.

In comparison with the previous gene editing platforms such as TALEN (transcription activator-like effector nuclease) or ZFN (zinc finger nuclease), CRISPR/Cas9 gets the upper hand for being more cost-effective, simple, efficient, precise and sensitive. It changed the science of genetics, opened the floodgates for the discovery and development of new therapies that benefit human beings, and can even help enhance biofuel and agricultural production. The concerted effort they put into the research on CRISPR/Cas9 has improved this technology by leaps and bounds and earned them an array of international awards, among which is the 2016 Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science, jointly awarded to Dr. Charpentier, Dr. Doudna and Chinese-American bioengineer Dr. Feng Zhang.

To combat the coronavirus crisis, Dr. Doudna's team is also developing CRISPR-based rapid diagnostics for COVID-19. She pointed out that CRISPR can detect RNA from the viral genome itself, which to some degree transcended the limitations faced by many IgM/IgG antibody tests in that it can spot the virus before patients' immune cells start to produce antibodies. Moreover, CRISPR can easily be reprogrammed to search for different RNA or DNA sequences, therefore reducing the risk of failing to detect the novel coronavirus once it mutates.

Dr. Charpentier decided to use the fund from the Tang Prize Foundation to further examine how our innate immune compartment responds to the infection of S. pyogenes, a Gram-positive bacterium. As outlined in her research proposal, innate immune cells "possess… a vast array of germline encoded Pathogen Recognition Receptors (PRRs), such as Toll Like Receptors (TLRs)" and because "ten human TLRs evolved to recognize specific Pathogen Associated Molecular Patterns (PAPMs) shared among different bacterial species," our body can promptly detect "microbial invaders albeit without the specificity characteristic of the adaptive immune system."

Founded by Taiwanese entrepreneur Dr. Samuel Yin, the Tang Prize is aimed to draw the world's attention to the wisdom mankind needs in order to deal with issues unique to the 21st century. It consists of four categorizes (Sustainable Development, Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology and Rule of Law). With NT $50 million allocated to winners in each category (40 million prize money and 10 million research grant), it hopes to encourage the world's top talent to work together for the betterment of human civilization. Awarded biannually since 2014, the Tang Prize announced its latest laureates in June 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation decided to cancel this year's award ceremony and banquet but has planned to invite the 2020 laureates to deliver speeches at major international conferences and to travel to Taiwan to receive the award, when the pandemic is no longer considered a global health threat.

About Tang Prize

Dr. Samuel Yin, chairman of Ruentex Group, founded the Tang Prize in December of 2012 as an extension of the supreme value his family placed on education. Harkening back to the golden age of the Tang Dynasty in Chinese history, the Tang Prize seeks to be an inspiring force for people working in all corners of the world. Epazz DeskFlex Room Booking Software Is Receiving Increased Demand From Universities and Colleges Struggling to Reopen After COVID-19 Lockdowns

CHICAGO, IL, Sep 22, 2020 – (ACN Newswire) – via NewMediaWire — Epazz, Inc. (OTC: EPAZ), a mission-critical provider of cloud-based business solutions, announced today that DeskFlex room booking software for universities is receiving a growing number of requests from schools, colleges and universities that are struggling to reopen their campuses after COVID-19 lockdowns.

Many educational institutions are seeking tools and technologies to help manage social distancing and contact tracing in order to go back to school. DeskFlex's room booking software has anti-COVID features that help secure schools, colleges and universities as they continue to open this fall. DeskFlex room scheduling tools provide thermal scanner features, mask detection and interactive TV screens placed at entranceways to monitor students, faculty and school employees when entering the premises.

DeskFlex room booking software continuously improves its complementary hardware devices, including the FlexCube QR code scanner, contactless conference room display screens, Bluetooth beacons and lobby kiosks.

According to the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), there must be a better contact tracing process, better testing and personal protective equipment before schools can reopen safely. DeskFlex room reservation software has COVID-compliant features, including a contact tracing tool, mask detection, thermal scanning and social distancing to help school administrators monitor everyone entering school premises and track those who have possibly been contaminated.

Under Mayor Bill de Blasio's proposal in New York City, schools are reopening using a hybrid model, under which students will attend in-person classes only a few days in a week. The schools limit classroom capacity to 12 students to comply with social distancing recommendations from health experts and the CDC. DeskFlex will benefit from these recommendations because our software makes it possible for schools to maintain capacity limits for each classroom, social distancing protocols and anti-coronavirus measures.

According to Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of Epazz, Inc., "We are confident that DeskFlex classroom scheduling software can provide exceptional and insightful solutions to schools, colleges and universities for safeguarding their students, faculty and from the infection."

COVID-19 Prompts Tang Prize Laureates to Examine New Challenges Facing Sustainable Development

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Sep 11, 2020 – (ACN Newswire) – To explore issues complicated by the coronavirus, including sustainable development, climate change and environmental protection, the Tang Prize Foundation and National Tsing Hua University will co-host the 2020 Tang Prize Masters' Forum for Sustainable Development, taking place at 4 p.m. (GMT+8) Taiwan time, on September 21.

Livestreamed on the Foundation's website (https://www.tang-prize.org/en/week.php?cat=94) with Chinese and English settings available, this forum features several Tang Prize laureates who, though unable to travel to Taiwan due to the pandemic, will deliver their speeches, take part in roundtable discussions and answer the audience's questions via videoconferencing. This special organization not only reflects how the pandemic has undoubtedly changed the way we live but also shows the Foundation's determination to provide a platform for people around the world to have serious conversations on topics closely related to sustainable development and thus to become more alert to possible dangers caused by mankind's disregard of ecological balance.

Economic development, environmental conservation, and social justice are the three pillars of sustainable development, at the core of which is ecological conservation, the main theme of this forum. In addition to the moderator, President of Taiwan's Academia Sinica Dr. James Liao, and the keynote speaker, 2020 Tang Prize winner in Sustainable Development Dr. Jane Goodall, three previous Tang Prize laureates will also contribute their professional opinions. They are Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, former director-general of the WHO, Dr. James Hansen, director of the Program on Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions in the Earth Institute at Colombia University, and Prof. Veerabhadran Ramanathan, Edward A. Frieman Endowed Presidential Chair in Climate Sustainability in UC San Diego. Prof. Huey-Jen Jenny Su, president of National Cheng Kung University, and Prof. Chia-Wei Li from the Department of Life Science at National Tsing Hua University will serve as panelists. These experts will take us through problems magnified during the pandemic, such as social and economic inequalities, climate change, and the relationship between humans, animals and nature, all of which will have profound impact on sustainable development.

In her speech, "Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Development of Human Society: The Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic," Dr. Goodall will elaborate on how animals and species have been forced to move away from their usual habitats because of mankind's exploitation and disrespect of nature. This could create situations where species that normally wouldn't be in touch at all end up coming into contact with one another, or animals go into cities in search of food. The current pandemic is thought to have started because we traffic and sell wildlife in markets, making it easier for a pathogen to jump from an animal to a human.

Thrown into a global health emergency, we have witnessed how our lives have been disrupted and how our wisdom and responses to crises have been put to test. Therefore, the Tang Prize Foundation cordially invite you to join us in this forum and learn about the masters' insight as to how to realize sustainable development under these trying circumstances.

Tang Prize Foundation and National Taiwan University present 2020 Tang Prize Masters’ Forum: Power of Civil Society for Realization of the Rule of Law

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Sep 10, 2020 – (ACN Newswire) – In the advent of challenges posed by critical issues such as climate change, global pandemics and social justice, what can civilians in the modern era, those without power and resource, do to help? To look into this question, the Tang Prize Foundation, in collaboration with National Taiwan University, present the 2020 Tang Prize Masters' Forum : The Rule of Law, from 10:30 to 13:00 (GMT+8) Taiwan time on September 21.

Three non-governmental organizations (NGOs), joint winners of the 2020 Tang Prize in Rule of Law, the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association, Dejusticia: the Center for Law, Justice and Society, and The Legal Agenda will speak on the topic, "Exploring the Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in Contemporary Civil Society," sharing their experience in mobilizing civil society to facilitate the application of law and to change the world for the better. The awardees are praised for utilizing strategic litigation, education and advocacy to advance legal institutions and protect socially vulnerable populations, in the milieus where the foundations of rule of law are under severe challenge.

The Foundation hopes this Forum will be an opportunity for members of modern society who have long been concerned about public issues, including civil servants, experts and social advocate groups, to get together and form a deeper understanding of how these three organizations tap into the potential of civil society, and combine academic research and social activism to further the rule of law.

Also taking part in this Forum are leading Rule of Law advocates: Robin J. Winkler, former president of Environmental Jurist Association, Mei-Nu Yu, former chairperson of the Awakening Foundation, Clarence Chou, chairman of Taiwan Association for Human Rights, and Lucas Wang, chair of the International Cooperation Team of the Judicial Reform Foundation. They will be exchanging ideas with the Laureates about the dedicated work in the field they have been conducting over the years.

Hosted by Dr. Jiunn-rong Yeh, chair professor of National Taiwan University, this Forum features speakers and panelists of diverse backgrounds and specialties, as well as former Tang Prize Laureates in Rule of Law, including former Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, Albie Sachs, and former Special Representative for International Migration for the United Nations, Louise Arbour. Both will offer their insightful observations on the vital functions the NGOs can perform and the problems they are confronted with.

Recent stringent restrictions and regulations imposed by the governments to contain the COVID-19 outbreaks have become some of the most imminent challenges the NGOs around the world have to respond to. In addition to defending the fundamental rights of the marginalized groups, the NGOs have to prevent governments from disguising means to expand administrative power as measures against the pandemic, at the expense of individual liberty. At this critical period of time, we cordially invite you to join us in this Forum, to give voice to the people and to the environment we reside in collectively, to examine the "new normal" in the age of COVID-19, and to view different communities with different values and capabilities in the contemporary society from a new perspective.
