Meeting the growing demand in Vietnam for high-quality dairy offerings to kids, KUN’s nutritious dairy range in 125ml and 180ml on-the-go SIG XSlimBloc carton packs is available in three flavors: Malt, Orange and Strawberry. Formulated specially for kids, KUN milk contains more vitamins (K2, A, D3, Choline, Beta Glucan, Zinc Lactate). With bite-size pieces of jelly, dietary fiber is added to the milk to aid in digestion. Drinking milk with jelly also appeals to kids, making it a multisensory drinking experience.

My Phan Ngoc, Marketing Director at IDP: “Our expanded KUN range is designed to offer kids a distinctive drinking experience. Leveraging the innovative packaging solution and filling technology from SIG, our consumers can now enjoy healthy and delicious milk with added value, sip by sip.”

The XSlim 24 Aseptic filling machine offers the flexibility to fill up to nine different pack sizes on the same high-speed filler (up to 24,000 packs/hour). The changeover time when switching pack size takes less than 15 minutes. This flexibility allows businesses to easily and quickly right-size their products based on consumer demands.

SIG’s Drinksplus technology allows F&B manufacturers to aseptically fill carton packs with beverages containing nutritious real bits of fruits, vegetables, grains or chewable pieces, such as jelly. SIG uses an advantageous sleeve system, where each carton pack is individually shaped, filled and ultrasonically sealed above the filling level, not through the actual product. This guarantees the aseptic safety of the product. Drinksplus products with perceptible pieces can be filled on standard SIG filling machines for beverages, once equipped with an easy-to-install ‘Drinksplus upgrade kit’. The products can be stored at room temperature for an extended period of time without losing its quality or flavor. The SIG Drinksplus technology provides the advantage of adding up to ten per cent particulate content like jelly into beverage products and to fill them aseptically into SIG carton packs. The bits can be up to six millimeters in length and width and ensure that drinking is fun.

Kha Vo Xuan Minh, Country Manager Vietnam at SIG: “With our flexible filling technology, our customers are well positioned to respond to consumer demands shaping the market. We are excited to see the first Drinksplus product filled in SIG XSlimBloc carton packs and look forward to bringing more innovative packaging solutions to the market.”

Over Three Quarters of Consumers Believe the Gifting Season Leads to ‘Wasteful Behaviour’ – Eviosys’ Survey Highlights Consumer Shift Towards Sustainable Packaging

ZUG, SWITZERLAND, Dec 14, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – For the second year, metal packaging giant Eviosys has commissioned a Europe-wide survey of consumers’ sentiment towards packaging. The European leader surveyed 2,000 consumers in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain to get the latest information on priorities in this time of economic uncertainty, especially during the festive season.

Products generated from trend insights
Products generated from trend insights

The survey’s compelling data underlines the increasing importance consumers place on packaging when making purchasing decisions. Notably, 87% of people think that the gifting season leads to wasteful behaviour, and 48% of respondents acknowledge that they often consider packaging materials when shopping, highlighting a heightened awareness of the environmental impact of packaging materials.

The frustration with the prevalence of plastic in supermarkets is palpable, with 59% expressing discontent. This translates into tangible action, as 57% of consumers said they would pay more for products in sustainable packaging. Notably, 63% of respondents perceive metal as a more sustainable option than plastic. This continued mindset shift towards metal means the industry has an opportunity to capitalise and make a positive change to the market.

The survey also highlights the strong appeal of metal packaging, particularly its infinitely recyclable nature. 82% of respondents said that they would be more likely to purchase a product in metal packaging, given its recyclability.

As environmental concerns continue to rise, 66% of respondents feel that companies are not doing enough to tackle plastic pollution. In contrast, 61% view companies adopting metal packaging as taking a crucial sustainability step. With more than half of Europeans citing cost of living as their primary concern (56%), 78% acknowledge that cost would influence their decision to purchase a gift item.

In the realm of gifting, 48% of consumers express that the ability to reuse or refill the product influences their decisions, even outweighing considerations of luxury or design. 94% of respondents already reuse their gift tins, with popular choices including storing decorations (51%), storing food (47%), storing jewellery (38%), and as a base for DIY projects (26%).

While glass remains an essential element for premium packaging for 42% of respondents, metal closely follows at 38% highlighting that it’s a strong preference for consumers around the festive season.

Laetitia Durafour, Marketing Director, Eviosys said: “Eviosys stands firm in our mission to help brands address consumers’ expectations by spearheading sustainable, recyclable metal packaging solutions. We’re not merely witnessing a shift in consumer preferences; we’re actively shaping a future where responsible choices define our packaging landscape, reflecting the growing commitment toward a more eco-conscious society.”

Marrying Innovation and Sustainability: Eviosys Launches Revolutionary Metal Closure ‘Horizon’ Enabling Brands to Adopt Mono-Material Packaging

ZUG, SWITZERLAND / ACN Newswire / September 21, 2023 / The first of its kind, Horizon has the potential to make plastic overcaps a relic of the past. The new shallow metal overcaps are infinitely recyclable and ultra-lightweight, meaning fewer raw materials are needed, benefiting the environment. Horizon will provide a visually appealing and sustainable product whilst maintaining optimal product protection for dry storage cupboard essentials. Fully customisable, Horizon brings any dry product packed in metal cans a seamless look and feel and tins become easily stackable for maximum efficiency, creating more space in consumers’ homes.

According to Greenpeace1, The British Plastics Federation estimates that 46% of the UK’s plastic waste is incinerated, 19% is exported, and 17% ends up in landfill. Through Horizon, Eviosys is facilitating the removal of environmentally harmful single-use plastic, replacing it with 100% recyclable fully metal packaging.

In a recent consumer survey* by Eviosys, 81% of Europeans said they care about the environment, with 74% considering metal packaging more sustainable than plastic, yet this isn’t being reflected on supermarket shelves.

According to the Environmental Investigation Agency and Greenpeace2, total plastic packaging used by the UK’s biggest supermarkets rose from an estimated 886,000 tonnes in 2017 to 903,000 tonnes in 2018. With Horizon, Eviosys offers brands a product that will satisfy the growing environmentally conscious mindsets of end consumers.

Olivier Aubry, Chief Commercial Officer, at Eviosys said:

Eviosys will be exhibiting Horizon alongside a wider range of products at Stand G30 at this year’s London Packaging Week. Visit the stand to find out more.

The investment comes as the growing need for two-piece and EOE round and irregular cans in aluminum and steel in the fish, meat and pet food markets continues to increase. A Breakthrough in Metal Packaging: Eviosys Launches ‘Ecopeel’, a Revolutionary New Dual Product of Can and Peelable End

ZUG, SWITZERLAND, Jun 29, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – International packaging giant Eviosys has revealed its latest innovation, Ecopeel. 200 years of expertise and innovation has produced an industry first: a processable food can with a sleek, peelable foil directly sealed on the can body.

Ecopeel has been designed with sustainability, convenience and inclusivity at its core. By replacing the traditional ring-pull with foil, Ecopeel is lighter and offers a 20% carbon reduction per can.

Ecopeel's unique 45 sealing surface reduces the force necessary for opening, and the smooth body and 100% aperture capability reduces food waste. This supports Eviosys' mission to make switching to metal accessible to all, building on the success of their other industry-leading products such as Orbit(TM).

Ecopeel reduces complexity for customers as cans are delivered with the foil already sealed, simply requiring brands to fill and seam the can. This makes the filling process 5x faster, as well as cleaner and safer, reducing spoilage and energy usage. It also offers greater customisation options with printing onto the can, so products stand out on the shelf.

Working in collaboration with longstanding customers, such as Jealsa and Friscos, Eviosys is also in discussions with other customers across Europe for the rollout of Ecopeel and expand the range to other sectors including pate, pet food, and olives.

Tomas Lopez, CEO at Eviosys, said: "At our core, we are committed to transforming the packaging sector through innovation to enable a truly circular economy. With Ecopeel we can offer our customers this transformed packaging experience, strengthening their sustainability and inclusivity credentials, expediting their internal processes and enhancing their brand visibility."

Jesus Alsonso, CEO at Jealsa, said: "It is very important to us to work with partners who are innovators and can offer us more sustainable choices throughout our supply chain – including our packaging. Ecopeel sets a new standard for inclusive, accessible, sustainable, and innovative food packaging, and allows consumers to enjoy all of our high-quality products with ease."

Eviosys Surpasses Emissions Goals and Leads the Industry in Pursuit of Net Zero

ZUG, SWITZERLAND, Jun 1, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – Global packaging giant Eviosys' latest ESG report details that, for the second year, the business has outperformed its ambitious goals for both CO2 and VOC emissions reductions, as well as being awarded EcoVadis Gold Certification, positioning it as a global powerhouse for sustainability.

ESG Report

Having reduced scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 10% in 2022, Eviosys has drastically surpassed its annual reduction target of 3.1% per production of million normalised cans. This represents almost twice the impressive reduction detailed in the firm's 2021 report, and puts Eviosys on track to achieve Net Zero by 2050. Eviosys has also reduced VOC emissions by 10% within a year, through the implementation of smart incinerators, monitoring protocols, and a conversion to water-based products.

Eviosys is now addressing its scope 3 emissions, becoming a signatory of the UN Global Compact and introducing a new supplier code of conduct. This will see Eviosys conduct an extensive review of the entire supply chain and attribute ratings to suppliers in order to promote improved sustainability throughout.

Other investments include equipment such as smart high-economy oxidizers to reduce CO2 emissions and new solar panels to deliver an impressive 19% energy saving at specific plants. For example, Eviosys' Murcia plant will house one of the largest installations of its kind in Europe with 8,411 panels. Additionally, Eviosys continues to open new facilities positioned close to customers, such as its recent expansion into Thailand.

Eviosys also regularly innovates to create inclusive products that make metal packaging more accessible. These include Orbit(TM), a patented closure that improves opening for those with impaired mobility, and Braille cans, with micro-embossed features and QR codes to offer product details to the visually impaired.

Championing employee well-being, Eviosys continues to progress towards its total recordable incident rate (TRIR) goal of 0.8, implementing improved safety features, training sessions and health support for workers. Eviosys will be introducing a dedicated program and an assessment for the employment of workers with disabilities to ensure all employees are safe and able to thrive at work.

Laurent Leucio, EHS and Sustainability Director at Eviosys, said:

"This year's ESG report shows our absolute dedication to sustainability. Achievements of this scale can only be accomplished by a holistic approach to reducing emissions, as Eviosys demonstrates by ensuring that we are committed and investing at each stage of production and operations to limit our environmental impact and help our customers do the same."

First, we have teams of specialists working here. Second, we consistently create innovations for our customers and always continue improving ourselves. For example, we can design and build our own molds, and we are the first manufacturer in Southeast Asian region to do commercialize in the Digital Shrink Sleeve Label. Lastly, another vital point is that our business partners vary in different industries, allowing us to produce shrink sleeve labels for many product categories, from food and beverages, cosmetics, drugs, and medical supplies, to household consumer goods – each requires expertise in different types of printing.

Therefore, all these factors create a significant advantage for Shrinkflex and empower us to grow alongside partners, quickly respond to environmental-friendly innovations, and stay above other suppliers.

3. What is the growth strategy for the next 3-5 years?

As I mentioned, since we entered the market, we have brought capital to expand the business by focusing on developing new product lines, such as flexible packaging, and finding innovations to meet environmental needs. In the next 3-5 years, we aim to capture around the two digits growth and become one of the leading Labeling and Packaging Solutions providers in Thailand and ASEAN.

4. Due to the movement and regulation pressure on the consumption and production of plastic these days, how has Shrinkflex prepared for changes?

Plastic may be difficult to disappear from our daily lives. So, how can we make it environmental-friendly? Whether recycling or reusing, these two solutions are the future of the shrink sleep label industry. At Shrinkflex, our shrink sleeve labels, with plastic bottles, can be processed and crushed into the recycling system. This innovation was certified by the American Plastics Recycling Association (APR), and we received the GreenShrink trademark last year. The qualification has proved another step toward success. In addition, we also offer flexible packaging that uses mono-material, which can be 100% recycled as well.

5. How has Shrinkflex established the ESG strategy? (ESG: Environment, Social, and Corporate Governance)

For many years before being listed on the stock market, Shrinkflex had been committed to driving the development of environmentally friendly products and sustainability schemes. Today, as a public company, our policy has been more functional and covers all departments.

For the Environment part, Shrinkflex provides concrete measures to reduce Carbon Footprint, such as oil and wastewater treatment systems, as well as solar panels installation in the factory. While the solar panels at our first plant help produce 450 kW of clean energy, the new set at our second factory will have the capability of up to 600 kilowatts.

For the social aspect, covering internal operations, business partners and nearby communities, Shrinkflex has demonstrated tangible actions reflecting our commitment to social responsibility. Especially for the employees, we emphasize personnel development and provide favorable welfare to improve their well-being.

For the corporate governance part, Shrinkflex has been rated 4-star corporate governance, known as the "Very Good" CG Scoring, by the assessment under the Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Company (CGR) project, powered by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD). This award guarantees our excellent performance.

Finally, even before or after being listed in the market, I want to emphasize our consistent commitment to building a sustainable business. Whether by expanding strategic partners or adding value to our products and customers with various innovations, investors can trust Shrinkflex and grow sustainably with us.
