HONG KONG, Apr 30, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair and inaugural DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong concluded successfully today, while the Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS), ended yesterday. The four trade fairs collectively attracted over 60,000 buyers from 127 countries and regions. The Gifts & Premium Fair welcomed some 35,000 buyers, while the Printing & Packaging Fair and DeLuxe PrintPack fair drew over 10,000 buyers, and the HKILS had over 15,000. Buyers from outside Hong Kong were mainly from Mainland China, Taiwan, the United States, Japan and Korea, demonstrating active global participation in the April trade events. Concurrent with the HKILS, the Asian Licensing Conference (ALC) invited nearly 30 international industry experts to share insights on global licensing trends and growth drivers. The four trade fairs, along with the ALC, contribute to the promotion of Hong Kong’s cultural and creative industries and development of intellectual property trade.

Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said: “The Gifts & Premium Fair, Printing & Packaging Fair, inaugural DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong, and HKILS bring together creative industry professionals and licensing industry players, providing a platform for exchange and connecting potential partners. Under the national 14th Five Year Plan, Hong Kong serves as a centre for cultural promotion and exchange, with the goal of promoting Chinese culture overseas. This year’s Gifts & Premium Fair and HKILS feature rich cultural and creative content, with the participation of numerous cultural and creative communities from Mainland China, which has been well-received by buyers. Additionally, with the recent implementation of the plastic-free policy in Hong Kong from last week, the Printing & Packaging Fair and inaugural DeLuxe PrintPack have attracted many local buyers seeking eco-friendly packaging, creating more business opportunities for the industry.” She further emphasised that Hong Kong is a renowned global sourcing hub, and the April trade shows gather industry people from traditional markets such as Europe and the United States, as well as those from emerging markets such as Mainland China, ASEAN and the Middle East. With the HKTDC providing online and offline business matching platforms, the industry can seize golden opportunities in the April sourcing season.

60% anticipate increase in sales

During the Gifts & Premium Fair, the HKTDC commissioned an independent research agency to interview some 870 exhibitors and buyers. Of the respondents, 60% believed their overall sales figures would rise in the next 12 to 24 months while 38% consider rising demand from emerging markets as the biggest business opportunity this year, followed by recovering purchasing power from customers (33%) and business leads from e-tailing (30%). The greatest challenges identified were fluctuations of the global economy (49%), impact of inflation (34%) and exchange rate volatility (33%).

In terms of market expansion, the popular choices among respondents included Northern and Western Europe (27%), North America (27%), ASEAN (22%) and Japan (14%).

Respondents identified green, environmentally friendly (60%), chic and fashionable (40%) and high-tech (31%) as the three major gifts and premium market product-feature trends. The gift and premium items with the most growth potential were considered to be sustainable gifts (16%), figurines & decorations (16%) and toys & baby products (16%).

Market trends usher in cultural creative and eco-friendly products

Hong Kong is a leading sourcing hub for gifts, and exhibitors at the Gifts & Premium Fair are closely attuned to trends, incorporating cultural and creative designs. Marushin Sun Heart (HK) Limited has introduced uniquely designed small bags and pouches in the shape of food items which are popular in Europe and the United States. The exhibitor joined the Gifts & Premium Fair in order to bring these popular bags into Asian markets and the result exceeded expectations. Shoko Kodama, Board Director, Marushin Co., Ltd., said: “At the fair, we have transformed our booth into a supermarket and attracted a lot of new buyers, 70% of whom come from Europe and the United States and the remainder from Southeast Asia. Their responses are very positive. So far, we have found 20 to 30 potential distributors. Some of our existing distributors have already placed on-the-spot orders worth a total of US$50,000 on the first day. We expect our on-site orders will amount to US$200,000.”

In addition, a Jingdezhen porcelain manufacturer joined the Gifts & Premium Fair for the first time to promote handcrafted and unique porcelain artworks. Their products have garnered appreciation among collectors from Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore.

Hong Kong-based Printing and Packaging Fair exhibitor Zune Asia Ltd has operated in Hong Kong for over 20 years and now focuses on developing markets in Mainland China and Hong Kong. Area Manager Alex Cheung said: “We are a branch of a Swiss cutting company and have joined this fair for more than 10 years. On the fair’s second day, we already met close to 30 buyers from Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and India. We estimate to generate sales revenue of HK$5 million (US$640,000) to $6 million during the fair. We also reconnected with two past customers at the fair.” The returned Korea Pavilion also received positive responses, Jae Hyoung Kim, Manager of Sangil Eco & Paper Bag Co., Ltd, an exhibitor offering sustainable products and solutions, successfully connected to four potential buyers from large-scale stores based in Chile, Mainland China and Europe.

The inaugural DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong brings together a wider range of luxury packaging options for buyers. Curtis Chan, Founder of Hong Kong-based Merit Ideas International Limited, said: “We were very pleased that we made contact with 20 to 30 new buyers on the first day. We have also connected with five different buyers from packaging companies in Mexico, Lotte Group in Korea, Isabelle Food Company in Taiwan, and a jewellery company in Mainland China through the Click2Match platform. We expect to secure orders worth HK$200,000 (US$26,000) to $300,000 during the fair.”

One-stop trade platform enhances synergy

On the buyer side, Pierre Lombard, Marketing Executive of Verimark (Pty) Ltd, a direct marketing company in South Africa, said: “I have found at Gifts Fair 14 potential suppliers which have their own factories, and I’ll close deals valued at US$150,000 with two toy factories. I am happy to see new and innovative designs for smart watches, body massage guns, home fitness equipment and microfibre bath towels. I will place orders later.” Another buyer from the United States, Connie Tsang from Time Products International, highlighted that the product sustainability and practicality are key market trends. Through Click2Match, she connected with several eco-friendly product suppliers and will be finalising a deal with an Indian supplier to purchase environmentally friendly bags worth US$10,000.

Quan Luong Le, CEO and Founder of Nam Xanh Joint Stock Company, a buyer from Vietnam, found many suppliers at the Printing & Packaging Fair and DeLuxe PrintPack fair. He said: “We are looking for some long-term suppliers and we met 15 on the first day, who are mainly from Mainland China including Guangdong, Shenzhen and Xuzhou. We will shortlist three to four suppliers, and place orders of 5,000 to 10,000 units of ribbons, glass bottles and gift boxes initially, roughly amounting to US$40,000 to $50,000.” Another buyer, Martin Dusanek, Managing Director of Dekos Packaging Solutions in Czech Republic, said: “Our main focus was on sourcing green and high-end custom packaging products, and I successfully met potential suppliers from Mainland China and Korea. The estimated total value of the packaging procurement is US$50,000.”

Under the EXHIBITION+ model, the four trade fairs integrate offline and online elements. Apart from taking part in the physical fairs, buyers can continue networking through the Click2Match smart business-matching platform.

The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, organised by the HKTDC, took place from 27 to 30 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Concurrently, the HKTDC and CIEC Exhibition Company (Hong Kong) Limited held the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair and the inaugural DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong at the AsiaWorld-Expo. DCCI fortifies stance for Malaysia’s greatest show: Wins support from key government organisations

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 30, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – The country’s most remarkable datacentre and cloud event, Datacentre & Cloud Infrastructure Summit (DCCI) is geared up for its return to Malaysia for its third annual edition on 14-15 May 2024.

While DCCI applauds the implementation of diverse government-led initiatives that are vital for upgrading the technology sector and boosting the digital economy, key government entities too have realized the pivotal nature of the event platform.

MDEC, MIDA, NACSA, Malaysia Centre4IR, which is hosted by MyDIGITAL Corporation, CyberSecurity Malaysia, and PLANMalaysia, have taken bold strides and allied with DCCI to address the tech sector’s most compelling matters through the summit. They will also be seen taking active participation in getting the best recognition for the platform and giving key inputs for program development.

Ts. Mahadhir Aziz, the CEO of MDEC said, “MDEC is thrilled to collaborate with DCCI as a Strategic Partner, advancing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure landscape and fostering industry collaboration within the datacentre and cloud industry. This aligns seamlessly with the Malaysia Digital (MD) national strategic initiative and further reinforces our vision to position Malaysia as the digital hub of ASEAN. Through significant global cooperation and partnerships with tech ecosystem enablers, MDEC is intensifying efforts to accelerate digital upliftment in the rapidly evolving digital economy.”

The 2-day event will go live at the heart of Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), and host 500+ datacentre & cloud professionals from 200+ leading public and private enterprises across Malaysia. Furthermore, the platform has already confirmed participations from some stellar thought leaders including Ts. Mahadhir Aziz        (Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)), Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan (Deputy Secretary General (Technology Development), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation), Ping Ngang Chee (Director of Research and Development Division, PLANMalaysia), Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohamed Sulaiman Sultan Suhaibuddeen (Chief Network Security Officer, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)), and many others who will impart the latest industry insights.

Credence CEO from TM Digital Innovation Sdn Bhd, Mohamad Rejab Bin Sulaiman expressed his organisation’s expectations from the platform, he said, “At Credence, we proactively champion ways to unlock the full potential of cloud technologies to shape it to our ever-changing needs and support sustainable socio-development growth. DCCI is the destination for insights, showcase of digital innovations and networking experience to support Malaysia’s digital transformation collectively.”

DCCI will initiate dialogue on some crucial industry topics like ‘Green Datacentres’, ‘The Symbiosis of Datacentres and 5G’, ‘Edge Computing Infrastructure’, ‘Embracing a Cloud-First Approach’, ‘Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure’, ‘Adopting Cloud Automation Solutions to Enhance Business Operations’, ‘Datacentre Cooling’ and many others.

Considering the response so far, it will only be fair to say that the delegates attending the summit will be totally spoilt for choice while deciding the most befitting datacentre or cloud vendor for their organisations. Few names from the list of solution providers who will be putting a grand show at the exhibition hall include Cloudflare, CETM, Fluke and others.

In a statement issued, post-confirming Cloudflare’s participation at the summit, Ben Munroe, Sr. Marketing Director, APJC, Cloudflare, said, “We are delighted to participate in this year’s Datacentre & Cloud Infrastructure Summit (DCCI) in Malaysia. At Cloudflare, we look forward to working with our various partners and stakeholders in Malaysia to help businesses leverage the cloud as part of their digital transformation, while ensuring they prioritise cybersecurity at every step of the way.”

He expressed, “Datacentre & Cloud Infrastructure Summit (DCCI) is on a mission to create a legacy in Malaysia’s technology realm. We work with market leaders and the top players to support Malaysia’s dynamic digital transformation journey, the likes the country has never seen before.  As we usher in a new era of datacentres & cloud technologies, an inclusive platform such as DCCI will bring diverse stakeholders closer, all the while doing wonders for the digital economy.”

Wintermar Offshore (WINS:JK) Reports 1Q2024 Results

JAKARTA, Apr 29, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – PT Wintermar Offshore Marine Tbk (WINS:JK) reported US$5 million Gross Profit and US$2.2million Net Attributable Profit for 1Q2024, driven by Owned Vessels gross margin expansion.

Total Gross Profit increased 66.8%YOY to US$5.0 million for 1Q2024 as compared to US$3 million in 1Q2023, while total revenues were 16.3% YOY higher at US$18.4 million compared to 1Q2023. Higher charter rates resulted in a widening of gross margins from the Owned Vessel Division.

Owned Vessel Division

In 1Q2024, Owned Vessel gross profit experienced an increase to US$3.9 million (+129.4% YOY) as compared to 1Q2023, generated from revenues of US$14 million (+44.6% YOY). This was achieved despite only a modest rise in fleet utilization from 67% in 1Q2023 to 69% in 1Q2024, because of rising charter rates and additional revenue from vessels acquired in 2022 and 2023 coming onstream.

If compared to the previous quarter, revenue from Owned vessels fell by 8% for 1Q2024 compared to 4Q2023, as some vessels came off spot contracts, reflecting the short term nature of the projects in operation at the present moment. However, gross profit was maintained at US$3.9million (-1%QOQ) compared to US$4million in 4Q2023, as the effect of wider margins arising from better charter rates for Spot contracts offset the lower utilization.

Owned Vessel Direct expenses increased by 26.4% YOY to US$10.1 million for 1Q2024, primarily driven by a higher number of operational vessels as compared to 1Q2023. The biggest increases were in maintenance expenses which rose +104.2% YOY to US$2.4 million, and crewing expenses of US$2.5 million (+17.9% YOY). Apart from a higher number of vessels, maintenance costs were higher due to the preparation of several vessels for overseas operations. Crewing costs have risen in line with the increased number crew and vessels operating internationally, necessitating a higher crew cost to meet charter requirements. Additionally, depreciation expenses climbed to US$3.5 million, up 17.2% YOY, reflecting the growth in fleet size.

Chartering Division and Other Services

Chartering Division saw a 25.3% YOY decline in revenue to US$ 3.0 million for 1Q2024 compared to 1Q2023, as two vessels which were previously chartered were purchased last year and are now reflected in Owned Vessel Division.  Gross profits in the Chartering Division also decreased by 49.4%YOY to US$ 0.2 million. Revenue from Other Services decreased by 33.0% YTD, while gross profits in this division remained relatively stable, showing a slight increase of 1.2% YTD to US$ 0.9 million.

Indirect Expenses and Operating Profit

Indirect Expenses increased by 61.4% YOY to US$ 2.3 million. A significant factor was the one-time reversal in employee benefit expenses in 2023 due to the Company’s adoption of the changes in the Omnibus Law, which did not recur in 1Q2024. Salary expenses also rose to US$ 1.7 million, up 41.4%YOY from 1Q2023, primarily due to increase in permanent employees following business expansion.

Operating Profit for 1Q2024 was US$2.7 million, which increased 71.7% YOY.

Other Income, Expenses and Net Attributable Profit

Interest expenses decreased by 5.9% YOY to US$0.2 million for 1Q2024 with ongoing reduction in debt as the Company’s net gearing ratio has now fallen to only 0.9% as of 31 March 2024.

Income from equity in associates turned positive, reaching US$0.2 million in 1Q2024 compared to a loss of US$0.4 million in 1Q2023. This improvement reflects higher utilization and better profits from an associate’s recovering business.

The net profit attributable to shareholders for 1Q2024 amounted to US$2.2 million, marking a significant increase compared to US$0.18million in 1Q2023.

Industry Outlook

The rise in global energy consumption demand is leading to investments in oil and gas exploration and production, emphasizing the industry’s resilience and adaptability amid geopolitical tensions and a shifting energy landscape. In 2024, the global oil market remains robust, with IEA projecting demand growth of 1.2 million barrels per day.

Indonesia’s oil and gas sector aligns with this trajectory, showing signs of renewed activity and expansion. Recent discoveries and the final approval of the Masela Field plan of development will likely drive increased deepwater exploration and development work, which will create increased demand for higher value OSVs. Progress in bringing offshore gas discoveries like the Mako field into production, along with the drilling of a significant ultra-deepwater gas prospect in the Andaman Sea, further highlight the potential growth for OSV services in the region.

OSV demand has strengthened further, driven by a continuation of increased offshore activities, including drilling and maintenance. The market is seeing tightening conditions due to rising requirements for OSVs arising from an increase in active rigs while OSV supply remains limited. These conditions have pushed up utilization of OSVs globally, and are likely to persist due to current limited orderbooks for newbuilds, which will support even higher charter rates.

Business Prospects

In 1Q2024, the Company further expanded operations beyond Indonesia, securing contracts in Brunei and Thailand, and commencing a long-term contract in India. These contracts offer improved charter rates and diversify service offerings, including specialized support for subsea and geo inspection tasks.

Subsequent Events

In line with plans to rejuvenate our fleet composition, the management took advantage of an attractive bid and sold one of our earliest purchased PSVs at a very favorable price in April 2024. The proceeds of this sale will enable the Company to reinvest in more attractive yielding assets in the market at present.

The Company had been locked into 2 long-term contracts since 2019 at charter rates much lower than the current market level. These contracts were not extended and have concluded by late April, thus freeing up the vessels to benefit from higher market rates.

Contracts on hand as at end March 2024 amounted to US$71.6 million.

HONG KONG, Apr 27, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – Hong Kong has always been committed to promoting culture, creative and IP trade, leveraging the city’s unique East meets West advantages. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) hosted lifestyle and licensing events in April, gathering global trend-setting creative products and services, and helping the industry seize business opportunities. Following the successful conclusion of Home InStyle and Fashion InStyle last week, a range of exciting fairs and conferences will continue this week. The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair runs for four days at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from today until 30 April. The Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair and concurrent DeLuxe PrintPack are at AsiaWorld-Expo. The Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS) and Asian Licensing Conference (ALC) are also held at the HKCEC for three days from today. These activities have created global business opportunities across industries and disciplines, consolidating Hong Kong’s role as the leading regional creative hub and IP trading centre.

Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said: “Over the years, the HKTDC has been committed to promoting Hong Kong as the regional creative hub through exhibitions, conferences and diversified activities, helping local creative industries to go global. The three fairs complement each other, facilitating cross-disciplinary cooperation, generating greater synergies to the industries.”

Ms Chong also said the HKTDC is dedicated in promoting sustainable development in the business sector through its diversified support services and online-to-offline sourcing platforms, assisting the industry to promote and procure green products and solutions. The trade shows held this week include green zones, while exhibitors offering green products at other zones are also provided with green labels for buyers’ easy  identification.
