China Power (02380): High-Quality Stock in the Power Sector, with SPIC Continuously Increasing Its Stake to 64.01%

HONG KONG, Jan 25, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – Zhitong Finance APP learned that according to the latest information from the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, China Power (02380) has received continuous increase in holdings from its controlling shareholder, State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC). As of January 23, the shareholding was 64.01%, with a total increase of approximately 126 million shares in the past two months. Since the end of August 2023, the controlling shareholder of China Power has been increasing holdings, including a cumulative increase of about 370 million shares this year, with a 3% increase in shareholding.

SPIC is fully optimistic about the future development of China Power. On the one hand, it continues to inject clean energy assets into its subsidiary, making the new energy power transformation of China Power ahead of its peers; on the other hand, by increasing holdings, it has proven its optimistic attitude to the market with real gold and silver. SPIC has announced that from October 2023 to June 2024, it will continue to increase its holdings of China Power in the open market, with a total amount not exceeding HKD 2 billion.

For example, from announcing the acquisition of five wind and photovoltaic companies under the controlling shareholder at the end of July 2023 to completing the acquisition in October, it only took about two months, indicating that China Power’s capital operation efficiency is high. After the take-over, China Power’s new energy installed capacity accounted for over 75%, an increase of over 10 percentage points compared to the 2022 fiscal year. PIS with BGN Adds Two Giant Gas Tankers, Supporting Energy Resilience and Global Market Expansion for Indonesia

MOKPO, South Korea, Jan 12, 2024 – (ACN Newswire) – Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has strengthened its fleet by adding two Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC), giant gas tankers optimized for transporting LPG both domestically and internationally. Named the VLGC Pertamina Gas Tulip and the VLGC Pertamina Gas Bergenia, they are among the world’s largest gas tankers, environmentally friendly and using the latest technology.

The twin tankers, each spanning twice the length of a football field, were constructed at Hyundai Samho shipyard in South Korea and officially launched on Tuesday, January 9th. The ownership of these tankers is a result of the collaboration between PIS and BGN, the global energy and commodities trading company, which commenced in December 2022 and accelerated with the signing of an agreement in October 2023.

The launch of these new vessels was officiated by the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, Group CEO of BGN Ruya Bayegan, President and CEO of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Shin Hyeon Dae, CEO of Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) Yoki Firnandi, and witnessed by Pertamina Commissioner Iggi Haruman Achsien and PIS Commissioner Lina Santi.

“The presence of these two VLGC ships will undoubtedly enhance the capability of the Pertamina Group in securing energy supplies to support national energy resilience. The latest VLGCs, said Nicke, have also been qualified to sail internationally, thereby expanding Indonesia’s presence in the global shipping arena.

PIS plans to continue expanding its tanker fleet for transporting LPG and other gas commodities. “We plan to add 6 VLGCs in 2024, starting with these 2 VLGCs at the beginning of the year, which will further strengthen PIS’s position in the global LPG transportation business. The purchase of these environmentally friendly VLGCs is in line with our mission to be a maritime logistics company supporting Indonesia’s NDC target by 2030,” Yoki said.

The vessels’ sustainability advantages that contribute to the global energy transition include having dual-fuel tanks, enabling the optimization of low sulfur fuel and gas. The vessels can transport not only gas or LPG but also petrochemical commodities such as ammonia.

The latest technology on VLGC Pertamina Gas Tulip and Pertamina Gas Bergenia is said to improve the ship’s speed with even more efficient fuel usage, up to 16%. Moreover, these vessels have incorporated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies into their operations.

The names Tulip and Bergenia were chosen as they hold special meanings for PIS, which may also be applied to BGN. The Tulip symbolizes magnificence, while Bergenia signifies strength.

With the addition of these vessels, PIS’s fleet now totals 97 units, including 61 tankers operating internationally. “We are optimistic that this number will continue to grow in the future, in line with the company’s targets,” concluded Yoki.

The AC180T can operate with either one or both batteries inside, and is interchangeable with the battery that powers BLUETTI MultiCooler. With a total capacity of 1,433Wh, the AC180T has a 1,800 watts continuous output, and can handle peak loads up to 2,700 watts.

China Power (02380.HK) Shows Hard Power in Energy Transition with 6 Original Technology Achievements

In fact, China Power’s technological innovation has always been at the forefront of the industry, with notable achievements in energy storage, color PV power, and green transportation. In 2023, for example, the smart energy storage and control operation platform developed by XYZ Storage Technology was put into operation, enabling China’s first 100 MW grid-side energy storage power station to access the cloud platform through the Internet. The first full-color PV power generation signage system and street lighting system have been demonstrated and applied in Tongzhou District and Fangshan District. The first unmanned battery swap station for heavy-duty trucks in Xinjiang has been built up to create the first smart and green mine model project in South Xinjiang.

China Power embraces both technological innovation and energy transition, to improve the operational efficiency of energy and comprehensively enhance the level of digital intelligence, and continuously increase the installed capacity of clean energy for the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. As disclosed in the half-yearly report 2023, China Power has a consolidated installed capacity of 32,941.2 MW, with clean energy (hydropower, wind power, solar power, gas power and biomass power) accounting for 66.35%, a significant increase of 15.6% year on year.
