Piala Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – In conjunction with the Hari Wilayah 2023 celebrations, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Asia's second-best team in the AFC Cup last year, will be organising the Piala Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan (PMWP) for the third time running, this Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras.

Piala Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan (PMWP) Trophy

First held in 2021 when KL City was crowned as inaugural winners, edging neighbours Selangor on penalties following a scoreless draw, the PMWP has evolved into an annual affair of the City Boys' highest profile pre-season friendly towards the start of their Malaysian League campaign. The coveted trophy made a short hop to Seremban in 2022, after the southerners ran out 2-0 victors against the severely weakened home team, then ravaged by the ill effects of the Covid-19 virus.

For this year's edition, KL City will be hosting a rejuvenated Perak side, led by the no-nonsense Lim Teong Kim (newly minted Datuk), who is into his first foray as a head coach of an M-League outfit. The match at 9.00 pm, may also see the KL-ites parading their new signings, Herlison Caion, Tchetche Kipre, Patrick Reichelt, Sebastian Avanzini, Matko Zirdum, Nazirul Naim, on loan Firdaus Saiyadi and welcome back the return of Sean Giannelli, in a bid to regain the trophy for a renewed tenure in the capital.

Away from the pitch, the action is set to be even grander than ever, with performances by artiste Dasha Logan, Selayang Hong Teck Sports Association Lion Dance acrobatic troupe, a showcase of exotic four-wheelers by Supercargang, HNDRD's sale of the Insta-famous City Boys t-shirt as well as the start of their sales discount for last season's Home & Away Regular Edition kit (from RM89 to RM67). Amidst all this, several F&B operators would be present to spice things up and whet your appetite at the 'fan walk' with their selection of fulfilling quick bites. Additionally, KL City's new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner MAAedicare Charitable Foundation will be doing its bit for the city folks by providing free essential health screening vouchers to the first 500 fans who purchase tickets to this match. All match attendees may choose to receive free SIMpacks by ONEXOX worth RM10 inclusive of RM5 credit and 18GB of data.

Tickets for the match will only be sold physically, and go on sale at the venue (Ticket Counter B) this Saturday, from 10 am onwards, at a heavily subsidised price of RM1 per pax (strictly cash). Each transaction is limited to a maximum purchase of 5 tickets only.

For fans who cannot attend, Astro will be broadcasting this match live over their Astro Arena network on channel 801 from 9.00 pm.

See you this Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 9 pm in the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, for the Piala Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan 2023: KL City Vs Perak!

ESG reporting: Hang Seng companies have transparency shortcomings

HONG KONG, Dec 15, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – Companies in the Hang Seng Index rank in the midrange internationally in terms of the quality of their ESG reporting. This is the finding of the Global ESG Monitor 2022 (GEM), Regional Report Hong Kong/China (https://globalesgmonitor.com/download-report/), published today. The GEM is considered an international leader in analysing the non-financial reporting of leading companies in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. According to the latest GEM study, the companies listed in the Hang Seng Index score an average of 57 points out of a maximum possible 100 points for the transparency of their non-financial reports. This result places the Hang Seng Index at the lower end of the midrange among the total of ten international indices from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia that were examined as part of the GEM, and ranks just above the level of S&P Asia (56 points) and Australia's ASX50 (53 points).

At the top of the index league are three companies – sports equipment supplier Anta Sports Products (02020.HK), financial services provider Hang Seng Bank (00011.HK) and Internet services provider and software developer Tencent Holdings (00700.HK) – on a score of 77. Sands China (01928.HK) and HSBC Holdings (00005.HK) rank the 4th and 5th among the blue chips with 75 and 74 points respectively. Other companies among the top ten include Lenovo Group (00992.HK), Power Assets (00006.HK), Henderson Land Development (00012.HK), China Mobile (Hong Kong) (00941.HK) and Hang Lung Properties (00101.HK).

With a rate of 97 percent, a generally high level of willingness exists among Hang Seng Index companies to base their non-financial reporting on a standard international framework. In a global comparison, however, they tend to be more focused with an average of 6.7 referenced frameworks and standards. This is also reflected, among other things, in the length of the reports, which rank among the most concise of the ten indices examined. "As you go through the Hang Seng data, you then notice that this focus is not always an advantage," comments Ariane Hofstetter, co-founder and Head of Research and Data Science at GEM. "In many cases, there's a lack of important details that would lead to better comprehensibility, reliability and comparability of the data."

Contextual information such as company size, number of employees and product and service portfolio is comparatively well established in non-financial reporting. Four out of five companies surveyed (81 percent) also describe the environmental parameters in which they operate. However, Hang Seng companies are less likely to address socioeconomic or political conditions (75 percent and 54 percent respectively). And only one-third (32 percent) from this group report on their value chains. "Greater sustainability nevertheless also requires close collaboration along the entire supply chain. How well Hang Seng companies achieve this undertaking remains in part an open question. Because here, too, there's a lack of information that enables the information to be classified," notes Michael Diegelmann, co-founder of GEM. "Although 83 percent of the reports contain descriptions of supply chains, once again there's a lack of detail to help rank the risks associated with the supply chain." For example, slightly less than a third of the companies provide information on the type of suppliers they do business with, and just under half state the estimated number of suppliers along the supply chain.

The relevant topics of Environment, Social and Governance are covered by a majority of Hang Seng companies in their non-financial reports. Around a third, for example, say they are already climate-neutral. A further 44 percent aim to achieve this objective in the future. In contrast to this statement, however, only three-quarters of companies identify their main sources of emissions in their reports and outline the biggest challenges they face in terms of climate-related emissions.

In the area of social issues, the topic of employee and human rights is not one of the most present in Hang Seng reporting. For example, 82 percent fail to state the extent to which specific incidents of discrimination and harassment have occurred. In contrast, the reports reflect more transparency on the subject of health and safety, where 89 percent of companies state their position – even though only seven out of ten companies report more specifically on "the number and rate of fatalities due to work-related injuries" and only a quarter provide information on "the number and rate of work-related injuries with serious consequences".

When it comes to governance, reporting by Hang Seng companies tends to focus more on structures and less on the functioning of the supervisory board. Around seven out of ten companies report how they ensure or promote their supervisory boards' collective knowledge about financial and non-financial issues and decisions. Only just under two-thirds of the companies (64 percent) report on the supervisory board's role when it comes to assessing environmental and social risk management. The scores are particularly low in connection with critical concerns and issues reported to the supervisory board. Here, only a quarter of the companies provide information, with only four percent then being specific and outlining the total number of critical concerns that were communicated to the supervisory board.

"One reason many reports lack detail and transparency is that they are prepared according to the HKEX ESG reporting guidelines," is Diegelmann's assessment. "This is where it then becomes noticeable that these guidelines have lower minimum requirements and don't go into much depth, especially compared to the Global Reporting Initiative requirements."

Among Hang Seng Index companies, it is also striking that there is little willingness to submit the non-financial report to an auditor. Only just under one-third of issuers (32 percent) issue a corresponding audit engagement. It is striking that in 70 percent of the cases no information was provided on the depth of the audit and only 16 percent of the reports were audited with "reasonable assurance".

"Hang Seng companies are generally convinced that their development towards greater sustainability must be accompanied by appropriate reporting," is the conclusion of Joanne Chan, Regional Partner Hong Kong and Managing Director at LBS Communications Consulting Limited. "However, an enormous amount of work will be required for Hang Seng companies to ensure that their reports can contribute to sustainable change through transparency."

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – ONE Championship(TM)(ONE) made a triumphant return to the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a thrilling night of martial arts action. ONE on Prime Video 3: Lineker vs. Andrade featured a series of exciting matchups, headlined by three World Title bouts.

The main event showdown between former ONE Bantamweight World Champion John Lineker and #2-ranked contender Fabricio Andrade ended in controversy midway through the third round, after Andrade connected with an unintentional knee to Lineker's groin.

The two bitter rivals traded bombs from the sound of the opening bell, with "Wonder Boy" looking to push forward behind a stinging right jab. Lineker found openings to land his thunderous hooks, rocking Andrade in the second round. However, the younger fighter did considerable damage to Lineker with his striking, causing the veteran's right eye to nearly close by the end of the frame.

In the third stanza, Andrade connected with a knee to the midsection and had Lineker reeling in pain. "Wonder Boy" tried to follow up with another knee, but it unintentionally landed south of the waistline. After a five-minute recovery period, Lineker could no longer continue. The fight was ruled a no contest and the ONE Bantamweight World Title now remains vacant.

In the co-main event, Regian Eersel became a two-sport ONE World Champion, capturing the inaugural ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title behind an efficient striking display against Thai star Sinsamut Klinmee. Action was fierce throughout the five-round contest, with both men trading combinations while taking each other's best shots. Sinsamut was game from start to end, wearing Eersel's damage on his face well. But the Dutch-Surinamese fighter was just too good, as "The Immortal" increased his aggression in the championship rounds to take the split-decision victory.

Teenage Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sensation Kade Ruotolo captured the inaugural ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title, defeating multi-time Sambo World Champion Uali Kurzhev via heel hook. Ruotolo was constantly on the attack, but once he trapped Kurzhev in a leg lock situation, the American grabbed ahold of the heel and put pressure on the knee to force the tap. Ruotolo also received a US$50,000 bonus for his performance.

In a featherweight kickboxing contest, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Mohammed Boutasaa figured in an all-out war of attrition for three rounds. The two met each other at the center of the Circle and looked to trade bombs in the opening stanza. Boutasaa went on the offensive in round two, as Sitthichai opted to lay back and counter. In the third frame, the Thai star came alive, moving forward with a sense of purpose. In the end, all three judges saw the bout in favor of Sitthichai to win by unanimous decision.

ONE Championship newcomer Shamil Gasanov made quick work of #2-ranked featherweight MMA contender Kim Jae Woong in his promotional debut, submitting the South Korean dynamo with a rear-naked choke in the first round. Gasanov closed the distance early and swiftly took Kim's back with an explosive takedown. After a quick scramble, the Russian's left arm wound up underneath Kim's chin as he cranked out the rear-naked choke. His performance earned him a US$50,000 bonus.

In the main event, ONE Championship newcomer Jonathan Di Bella scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over Chinese teen phenom Zhang Peimian to capture the vacant ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title.

Di Bella came out of the gates firing, putting the pressure on Zhang who retreated toward the Circle Wall. As the undefeated Italian-Canadian star pressed on, "Fighting Rooster" opted to lay back and counter, attacking with a myriad of leg kicks. However, Di Bella blitzed Zhang with quick and powerful punching combinations to keep the Chinese fighter honest.

The bout was close leading up to the fifth and final round, but Di Bella pulled away when he connected with a dramatic left head kick that sent Zhang crashing to the canvas. With the 19-year-old on unsteady footing, Di Bella tried to close the show, but both men reached the final bell.

In the co-main event, fifth-ranked flyweight contender and BJJ black belt Reece McLaren put on a striking clinic against Windson Ramos, showcasing a facet of his game that's been continually improving since be began training under Muay Thai legend John Wayne Parr. The 31-year-old from Australia found a home for his straight right hand on Ramos' chin, hurting the Brazilian repeatedly with the same shot. McLaren dominated the striking exchanges throughout, and with Ramos unable to answer the bell for the third round, "Lightning" secured the technical knockout victory.

Constantin Rusu scored his second straight win in the Circle, besting former ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title challenger Islam Murtazaev. Rusu was persistent with his offense, pushing the pace against a more timid Murtazaev, who just couldn't find his rhythm. The Moldovian-Russian's unending pressure and activity was enough to earn him the nod from all three judges, as he outworked Murtazaev across three rounds.

Fourth-ranked strawweight contender Gustavo Balart took out former ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex Silva in a closely contested three-round catchweight contest. Silva, a multiple-time BJJ World Champion, took matters to the canvas early, where he had the advantage in the grappling department. The 40-year-old veteran was constantly on the attack with a variety of submissions, but Balart showcased excellent defense on the mat. On the feet, the Cuban connected with a series of clean strikes, highlighted by an overhand left that often hit the mark throughout the contest. In the end, judges saw the bout in favor of Balart to win by split decision. It is his second straight victory over a former ONE Strawweight World Champion after beating Yosuke Saruta last time out.

Former ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Jimmy Vienot took care of business against Niclas Larsen in a heated all-striking battle. Third-ranked contender Vienot was sharp to start the fight, forcing #5-ranked Larsen on the back foot with pinpoint combinations. A cut opened up above Vienot's left eye in the second round, and Larsen turned up the pressure. But as the Danish fighter went on the attack, Vienot regained control in the third and came away with a unanimous decision for his efforts.

Eko Roni Saputra continued his stunning run in the flyweight MMA division, dominating Yodkaikaew Fairtex and then submitting the Thai with a heel hook in the first round. Saputra closed the distance immediately at the sound of the opening bell and successfully took Yodkaikaew to the mat. On the ground, Saputra went to work, locking in the submission just past the two-minute mark to force the tap. It was the Indonesian phenom's seventh straight victory, all coming via first-round finish. Saputra earned a US$50,000 bonus for his performance.
