Retail SaaS major Unicommerce eyes to double its transaction volumes in Southeast Asia

Singapore, Sep 22, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – Unicommerce, an integrated SaaS platform for post-purchase experience management, is experiencing rapid growth across Southeast Asia. Currently processing over 2.5 million annual transactions, the company eyes to double transaction volumes to reach 5 million by December 2022. In its first year of operations, the company has signed up over 30 clients across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Unicommerce is bullish on the growth of e-commerce in Southeast Asia. The company has already established its local presence with a sales and customer service team in Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, and is also planning to establish a local entity in the coming months.

Unicommerce's expansion into Southeast Asia comes as e-commerce volumes spike and companies seek an integrated platform to handle the entire post-purchase transaction flow. Being a sector- and size-agnostic platform, Unicommerce solutions have been successfully deployed by a range of retail brands looking to build a robust online presence and re-engineer their operations and processes to achieve maximum consumer connection. Some of the leading brands that Unicommerce works with within the SEA region are Edamama, Locad PayO Asia, Amilo, Business Engineers, and Luxurious Craving, among others. The company's clients in SEA include fashion brands, beauty, and personal care brands, fulfilment providers, and logistic service providers. The SaaS platform is also one of the finest omnichannel platforms that powers 2,000+ stores and 7,000+ warehouses across India.

During and post-pandemic, there is a surge in online shopping to avoid the spread of the virus. As the e-commerce and retail industry grows with multiple online shopping platforms, the supply chain has become an increasingly complex process, and companies rely heavily on technology to optimize operations.

Unicommerce's SaaS platform enables brands to streamline the supply chain with an integrated SaaS solution for inventory, order, and warehouse management. The unique, award-winning platform for post-purchase experience management helps brands and marketplaces manage operations across multiple online sales channels and physical distribution points while maintaining a smooth inventory flow to meet user expectations. The company also enables marketplaces to streamline processes with its multi-vendor management solution.

Talking about the expansion plans, Mr Kapil Makhija, CEO of Unicommerce, says, "Our clients in Southeast Asia are focused on building a strong digital presence and looking for technology solutions. Our platform enables them to enhance the post-purchase experience and achieve operational excellence. Unicommerce's robust and easy to integrate SaaS platform are well-suited to meet client needs which is reflected in our rapid growth. We are delighted to partner with many leading brands and look forward to expanding our presence across Southeast Asia."

Edamama, one of the leading brands in the Philippines, has deployed Unicommerce's Dropship Fulfillment, Vendor Management solution, and Personalized E-commerce solutions to manage different vendors and offer personalized shopping experiences to consumers. The automation by Unicommerce has enabled the company to manage operations across 400+ registered vendors and 1,000+ brands, while seamlessly maintaining 30K+ live catalog counts and allowing the brand to dispatch tens of thousands of items per month with a 99.99% fulfillment rate.

Unicommerce's growth into Southeast Asia and also Middle East Asia is built on its decade-long experience and leadership position in the diverse and dynamic Indian market, where the company processes 500 million annual transactions. The company works with some of the leading brands and companies of India including Marico, Bestseller, House of Anita Dongre, Netmeds, Mamaearth, mCaffeine, and many more.

Pagoda Celebrates the 6th New Retail Anniversary: Fulfillment of ESG Philosophy with Consistent Efforts on Customer-centric Management

HONG KONG, Sep 20, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – Lately, Pagoda, China's biggest fruit chain retailer, released its 6th New Retail Anniversary Report. The report suggests steady growth in Pagoda's new retail business, as evidenced by over 15 million app downloads, 47 million mini program subscribers and over 5.4 million store community users hitherto in online operation. During this year's August 18 anniversary promotion, Pagoda's GMV in online operation hit CNY 30 million within two days merely.

For years, Pagoda has been invariably upholding the philosophy of customer-centric management, whereby Pagoda stands out in the competition with a development framework featuring comprehensive distribution channels, a variety of categories and first-rate services.

In terms of distribution channels, Pagoda has established a neighborhood-based fruit retail chain model with characteristics of online/offline integration, store/warehouse integration, timely delivery and next-day delivery, among which, next-day delivery is defined as one of the key businesses this year. By leveraging infinite space for the display of more commodities for sale online, Pagoda furnishes customers with a wide selection of items. Up to now, the next-day delivery business has been available in 30 cities nationwide.

In terms of product, Pagoda builds quality fruit brands with utmost efforts, including 27 knock-outs and level A product brands; its fresh product brand "Panda Master" has originated 185 products falling into rice, flour, grain & oil, meat, poultry, egg & milk, quick-frozen food, condiments, etc.

In terms of services, Pagoda keeps putting into practice the return policy "fruit can be returned without the receipt, physical object or reason". In 2021, Pagoda's refund amount represented only 0.15% of its revenue. Granting customers the decision power of return, Pagoda's "heart-to-heart retail" has hereby been recognized by consumers. Winning consumer confidence, Pagoda reins in its management cost with effectiveness.

As an advocate of long-term development, Pagoda is in a constant quest for fulfillment of ESG philosophy, with a view to the sustainable development of enterprise, agriculture, ecology and society.

In terms of social responsibility, Pagoda has a firm conviction that "it's better to pass on fishing skills than to hand out fish". Its holding subsidiary Fruit Ally assigns its tech team to help establish poverty alleviation bases and impart planting knowledge to local fruit farmers, under Pagoda's support in marketing, commercialization and branding.

Moreover, Pagoda takes multi-pronged measures, such as the introduction of BLOF technology and use of soil analysis and fertilization design, to effectively address soil problems including pathogens, hardening and salinization, etc.; making allowance for physiological growth characteristics of different crops, Pagoda deploys compost, microorganism and systemic fertilization for organic farming, so as to produce eco-friendly and nutritive agricultural products with high quality and yield but low cost.

BLOF-based "Three-Zero" vegetables are now in seasonal crop rotation across partnering bases. "Three-Zero" vegetables feature zero fertilizer, zero pesticides and zero hormones throughout plantation and production. To carry out the philosophy of rural vitalization with efficiency, Pagoda is deepening government-enterprise cooperation as well. In July this year, Pagoda concluded a strategic contract with Ningxia Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with intention of facilitating the local implementation of BLOF technology and making "Three-Zero" vegetables exemplify the quality agricultural products of Ningxia.

More than 50% of respondents expected production or sourcing costs to increase, while 44% saw no change. The physical part of the 41st HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and 10th Salon de TE concluded successfully yesterday. The World Brand Piazza at Salon de TE presented 12 renowned international brands.

Industry experts examined the industry's prospects, trends and marketing strategies at the Hong Kong International Watch Forum, Asian Watch Conference and a seminar on the theme "Cross-Border eCommerce: How to Win in Southeast Asia".

A number of product launches were held during the fairs. Renowned Hong Kong athletes including track athlete So Wa-wai, six-time Paralympic Games gold medallist, made an appearance at the product launch.

HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Sophia Chong said: "Although numerous sectors around the world, including the watch and clock industry, have been hard hit by the pandemic, we are pleased to see that affordable luxury watches are a hot pick in the market, and that watches featuring innovative technologies and sustainable elements are part of the new fashion trend. This year, the two fairs showcased a wide range of trendy, high-quality products from notable brands. Exhibitors were also able to capitalise on retail opportunities driven by the recent disbursement of the government's consumption vouchers."

E-tailing presents new business opportunities, fairs give exhibitors a retail boost

The HKTDC conducted an on-site survey with exhibitors and buyers during the fairs to gauge the development trends in the watch and clock industry in 2023. The survey found that the majority of respondents considered e-tailing (37%) and the recovering purchasing power of customers (28%) to present the biggest business opportunities. Of the exhibitors surveyed, 39% of them are engaged in e-tailing businesses, while 33% indicated an intention to invest resources in developing an e-tailing business over the next two years to capture more orders. Regarding product trends, respondents expected smart watches (47%) to be the most popular watch category in 2023, followed by mechanical watches (15%) and digital analogue watches (14%).

In addition, some exhibitors said that sustainability themed watches will be another key trend. Speaking at the MINI green watch series product launch during the fairs, Esther Wong, Founder and CEO of Acestar Concept Limited, said: "As people become more environmentally conscious, this green watch collection has become the talk of the town. Sales of the watch at the fairground did well and we have already sold about 1,000 pieces. A new buyer expressed interest in bringing MINI green watches to the United States and South American markets, while another new buyer from Mainland China is keen to cooperate with us by investing in the development of a new eco-friendly product. Overall, the response from both public visitors and trade buyers has been overwhelming."

The two fairs were open to the general public this year, with a lively buying atmosphere at the fairground. The on-site survey revealed that the per capita consumption of public visitors was HK$1,146. Mike Lam, Chief Operating Officer of Mira Watch International Ltd, said the traffic at the fair was very good. "The average per capita spending by customers at our booth is around HK$4,000-5,000. A mechanical sports watch priced at HK$10,000 has sold particularly well. We expect this year's on-site sales turnover to reach HK$1 million."

Click2Match helps industry players seize business opportunities

This year's fairs adopted EXHIBITION+, a brand-new exhibition model integrating online and offline trade show formats, extending face-to-face interactions from physical exhibitions to an online platform. To help overseas buyers maintain contact with exhibitors, the HKTDC mobilised its 50 global offices to invite international buyers to engage in business discussions with exhibitors via video conferencing. In addition, the HKTDC utilises its smart business-matching platform, Click2Match, to generate AI-recommended leads for exhibitors and buyers until 18 September. The platform also provides functions such as a meeting planner, instant messaging, video conferencing and file sharing to facilitate communication between buyers and exhibitors. The online fairs will run until 6 October on hktdc.com Sourcing where trade buyers can continue their sourcing journey at their own convenience.

The renowned Swiss brand Victorinox, famed for its army knives and sporty watches, was at the Watch & Clock Fair to source watch parts and components. Kelvin Lo, Head of Sourcing – Watches, Victorinox Dongguan Company Limited, said: "Through the HKTDC's Click2Match platform and its business-matching team, we set up physical meetings with six parts and components suppliers before the opening of the fair. The platform proved to be effective in helping us identify suitable suppliers in advance. Following business negotiations at the physical fair, we have been successful in finding five potential suppliers, one of which has adopted a brand-new technology to produce leather straps."

Chit Tat Clock and Watch Company Limited was another exhibitor that was able to connect with overseas buyers via the Click2Match platform. The company's General Manager, Philip Lau, said the brand focused on selling its stock to consumers at the fair, helping to expand its retail business. In addition, the company arranged more than 20 online meetings with overseas buyers via the Click2Match platform to conduct business negotiations after the physical fairs, with Mr Lau saying he was satisfied with the results.

Following a successful series of fairs over the summer, the HKTDC will hold the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), International ICT Expo, electronicAsia, Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo from 13 to 16 October, all of which will adopt the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model. The model's round-the-clock services will boost the flexibility and effectiveness of business promotion for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and offer benefits ranging from extended fair periods and expanded platforms to enhanced business opportunities.
