Industry players, supply chain management service providers and shippers from all over the world once again gather in Hong Kong for this annual event, underlining the city’s status as a key logistics, maritime and aviation hub. In his speech, Mr Chan, the Financial Secretary, mentioned: “There will be more business with the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Middle East and indeed the Belt and Road countries. In other words, the demand for logistics, maritime and aviation services with and within this region will rise rapidly. The trade figures published by China and economies in these regions have demonstrated such a clear trend. And Hong Kong will remain committed to our super-connector role and be a platform providing high value-added logistics, maritime, aviation, financial and risk management services. We will continue to be a steadfast supporter of free trade and multilateralism, advocating for the reduction in trade barriers, and the free flow of goods and services, people and capital.”

Reshaping global supply chains: accelerating diversification

Supply chains are essential for trade and business development. In recent years, global geopolitical factors, freight supply imbalances, surging transportation costs and labour shortages have challenged the industry, highlighting the need to establish people-centric, innovation-driven, collaborative and sustainable supply chains executed in real time. RCEP has created the world’s largest free trade area, contributing to the consolidation and strengthening of regional industrial supply chains.

Prominent industry leaders, including Gladis Araujo, Former Global Supply Chain Strategy Vice President of at Mattel Inc and Business Partner & Chief Supply Chain Officer at Prodensa Group, and Phil Showering, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Ghassan Aboud Group and Chief Executive Officer at Gallega Global Logistics, discussed global supply chain challenges and potential under the theme Driving Global Economic Growth through Supply Chain Transformation. During the session, Mr Showering said: “Pandemic has pushed all the industry stakeholders to change and prioritise collaboration for the first time. Work with all kinds of suppliers and ports to develop new trade lines, as well as with government entities, and with countries. We can facilitate collaboration through electronic trade, breaking down new barriers.”

As global trade evolves, supply chains continue to diversify, prompting businesses to actively recalibrate and decentralise supply chain networks. Adeline Franger Chouraqui, CEO, CMA CGM Greater China; Thomas Kowitzki, Vice President, Global Head of China Rail, DHL Global Forwarding and Semyon Pak, Managing Director for International Business and Member of the Management Board, Kazpost JSC, shared insights at the Power Dialogue session Spotlight on Asia: Reshaping the Global Supply Chains. They explored cooperation in areas such as RCEP, the GBA, railway transportation and multimodal transportation, emphasising the need to strengthen regional connectivity.

Digital transformation fortifies Hong Kong’s shipping, aviation hub status

The Policy Address by HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee last month presented several recommendations to consolidate Hong Kong’s position as an international shipping centre and aviation hub. These included establishing a smart port to strengthen competitiveness by setting up a port community system to facilitate the flow and sharing of data among operators and other stakeholders in shipping, ports and logistics.

International technology company representatives, including Andrés de León, Chief Executive Officer, HyperloopTT; Rachelle Woodsford, Global Head of Strategic Customers, Dronamics; Kyongsoo Noh, Chief Operating Officer, Seadronix Corp; and Nathan Zeng, CFA, Senior Director of Global Technology Services, Hai Robotics, discussed revolutionary solutions and cutting-edge technologies driving the modernisation of logistics and intelligent supply chains.

Challenges and opportunities of green transformation

As the International Maritime Organization, under the United Nations, set the net-zero target for carbon emissions from international shipping at 2050, green business has become an irreversible trend. Peter Hui, Vice Chairman, Textile Council and Willy Lin, Chairman, Hong Kong Shippers’ Council, will delve into implications of impending carbon taxes and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) measures during tomorrow’s SCM & Logistics Forum.

Shippers – including industries from various sectors in apparel, sports, electronics and e-commerce – join this year to gain insight into innovative logistics solutions. At tomorrow’s Shippers’ Forum – themed E-commerce Logistics and FulfillmentLai Tze Siung, Chief Logistics Officer, Pomelo Fashion, Ma Wei, General Manager of JD Logistics Hong Kong Express Business and Mao Lingke, General Manager of Air Freight Department, Cainiao Global Supply Chain, will present best practices on e-commerce logistics and fulfillment, covering such areas as warehouse optimisation, last-mile delivery, supply chain traceability and visibility, to empower businesses to streamline operations and stay competitive in the e-commerce landscape.

Facilitating business networking is a key focus point for the HKTDC and is an important aspect of this event, enabling collaboration and mutual success across various industries. The exhibition segment is also a conference highlight as nearly 100 exhibitors showcase cutting-edge logistics and supply chain solutions from around the world. The inaugural Logtech Salon will display robots, artificial intelligence systems and data systems tailored for the industry, giving insiders valuable insights into developments and applications of innovative technology in the field.

Mr. Jun LEI, Chairman of the Company, commented, “In the third quarter, our core businesses have made steady progress. Focusing on the priority strategies of ‘artificial intelligence (“AI”)’ and ‘collaboration’, Kingsoft Office Group continuously optimized the AI performance of products. Online games business continued to iterate and upgrade self-developed premium games.”

Mr. Tao ZOU, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, added, “In the third quarter, the Group maintained stable financial performance. The total revenue was RMB2,059.7 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 12%, mainly due to the steady growth of JX3 Online and the sustainable growth in subscription businesses of both individuals and institutions from Kingsoft Office Group.”

BUSINESS REVIEW

Office Software and Services

For the third quarter of 2023, Revenue from the office software and services business increased 9% year-on-year and decreased 2% quarter-on-quarter to RMB1,098.3 million. The year-on-year increase was mainly due to the growth of Kingsoft Office Group’s domestic individual office subscription business and institutional subscription business partially offset by the decrease in revenue from domestic institutional licensing business. The slight quarter-on-quarter decrease was mainly due to the declined institutional licensing business, partially offset by the sustainable growth of the institutional subscription business.

During the period under review, for individual office subscription business, Kingsoft Office Group optimized its membership system, improved user experience across its products, and achieved steady increases in both the paying ratio and the average revenue per paying user. To enhance the AI performance of products, Kingsoft Office Group invested in the independent development of small and medium-sized models. We have reached strategic cooperation with Alibaba Cloud and iFlytek to jointly build a digital and intelligent service ecosystem.

Regarding institutional subscription business, Kingsoft Office Group actively promoted cloud integration and collaborative office progress for government and enterprises and developed high-quality digital office solutions to assist them in the digital transformation. Through WPS 365, Kingsoft Office Group continued to facilitate customers’ adoption of cloud and collaborative applications and made significant progress in expanding the user base in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. In order to strengthen regional service construction, Kingsoft Office Group organized a series of digital office activities in many cities in China and continuously expanded penetration in multiple industries including energy, education, and finance.

Online Games and Others

Revenue from the online games and other businesses for the third quarter of 2023 increased 15% year-on-year and decreased 10% quarter-on-quarter to RMB961.4 million. The year-on-year increase was mainly due to revenue growth from JX3 Online and revenue contribution from Snowbreak: Containment Zone launched in July, partially offset by decreased revenue from existing games. The quarter-on-quarter decrease was primarily attributed to the decline in revenue from JX3 Online, which had a relatively high base in the second quarter.

During the period under review, JX3 Online updated constantly and sustained a good atmosphere in the player community. In August, JX3 Online celebrated its 14th anniversary with players. In October, it launched the beta test with ultimate graphic quality and a new expansion pack, ensuring the ongoing success of the IP. World of Sword Origin was transformed from PC game through optimizing and upgrading the graphics and gameplay details while retaining traditional 2D graphics and classic gameplay. This mobile game was released in China in September and received recognition from players. We also optimized the anime game Snowbreak: Containment Zone on an ongoing basis. Looking forward, the mobile version of JX3 Ultimate has received the license approval and is expected to be launched in the first half of next year to achieve cross-platform operation.

Mr. Jun LEI concluded, “In the third quarter, we committed to refining and optimizing our core products and services. Going forward, Kingsoft Office Group will continue to focus on AI and collaboration and restructure office software, to provide users with intelligent product experience. Meanwhile, the online games business will continue to develop premium games and maintain long-term operations to better serve players. We will remain our focus on investing in the R&D of our core businesses, to enhance our core competencies and achieve high-quality and sustainable growth.”

GPT-PRHelper to Disrupt Southeast Asia’s PR Distribution Landscape, Says AsiaPresswire at Product Debut

HONG KONG, Nov 21, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – AsiaPresswire, the leading press release distribution platform in Asia, believes its new AI writing assistant GPT-PRHelper will disrupt the Southeast Asia press release distribution landscape. At the product launch event, AsiaPresswire CTO Bruce Wong outlined how GPT-PRHelper’s advanced natural language generation capability will empower PR professionals to achieve higher productivity and make an impact in the fast-growing SEA markets.

“We see tremendous opportunities in Southeast Asia for our groundbreaking AI solution GPT-PRHelper,” said Wong. “With its automated drafting and translation into 21 languages, GPT-PRHelper will enable communicators to easily produce localized press releases tailored for different SEA countries and deliver their news rapidly across the region.”

According to Wong, the public relations industry in Southeast Asia is booming. PR spend in SEA is projected to reach US$1.2 billion by 2027, growing at 11% annually. “However, despite growing budgets, PR professionals still face challenges meeting demands for more content across multiple languages,” Wong explained. “That’s where GPT-PRHelper comes in. Our AI assistant automates the most labor-intensive part of PR – writing high-quality press releases from scratch – so practitioners can focus on strategic counsel and maximizing publicity.”

GPT-PRHelper will significantly enhance earned media opportunities for brands in Southeast Asia. The AI can quickly generate press release drafts for regional or single market campaigns and translate them into SEA’s major languages like Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, Khmer, Lao and Burmese.

“The ability to scale localized content production changes the game for regional communications,” said Wong. “With GPT-PRHelper, we can help clients spread their stories far and wide in Southeast Asia to capture the attention of mainstream, niche and online media.”

GPT-PRHelper will also level the playing field for smaller PR firms in Southeast Asia looking to grow their regional footprint. “High-quality localization used to require substantial time, personnel and financial investment,” he said. “GPT-PRHelper democratizes access by automating translation into 21 languages with just a few clicks. Now firms of any size can easily distribute news across Southeast Asia without the traditional localization barriers.”

Wong emphasized that GPT-PRHelper is designed specifically for the PR profession, trained on millions of press releases over 10 months. “We fine-tuned the AI on a dataset of top-tier press releases to ensure it generates the style, format and standard of quality that media expect,” he said. “Our clients can rely on GPT-PRHelper to consistently produce releases that capture journalist attention and drive coverage.”

According to Wong, the response from initial users in Southeast Asia has been overwhelmingly positive. Clients report that GPT-PRHelper saves them hours of writing and translating, allowing them to take on more clients and assignments.

He believes that by empowering PR firms of all sizes to efficiently tell their stories regionally, GPT-PRHelper will bring more diversity and creativity into the Southeast Asian PR landscape.

“We developed GPT-PRHelper to solve real communications challenges for PR professionals working across Southeast Asia,” said Wong. “The technology opens new possibilities for brands to engage wider audiences, develop higher-impact campaigns, and ultimately succeed in these fast-growing, competitive markets.”

Singapore’s Largest Brick-and-Mortar Nutrition Brand LAC Launches Nutrition for Life Campaign, Advocates Holistic Wellness with Minimal Effort

SINGAPORE, Nov 21, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – Singapore’s largest brick-and-mortar supplement brand, LAC, Leader in Antioxidative Control™, announced the launch of its Nutrition for Life campaign to encourage Singaporeans of all ages to prioritise not only their physical health but also their mental and emotional well-being. This is the first LAC-branded event since the health and wellness brand opened 54 physical stores in Singapore, further increasing its footprint in the region.

Nearly 90% of Singaporeans have indicated that the COVID pandemic has prompted them to reassess their lives, with 41% expressing increased concerns about health issues and the importance of staying healthy. However, the same group of people are finding troubles to do so – the lack of time is seen as the biggest obstacle to manage physical, mental and emotional well-being amongst Singaporeans. In a recent study, more than half of mothers (51%) expressed feelings of stress or finding it challenging to cope, mainly due to juggling between household, work and family responsibilities. Additionally, almost half of all women struggle to allocate time for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, a sentiment that is also shared by 32% of men.

Taking cue from this pressing need for holistic wellness solutions, LAC’s Nutrition for Life campaign features a range of proprietary blends of supplements aimed to help Singaporeans  incorporate supplements into their daily lifestyle to not only improve their physical health, but also to bridge nutritional gaps, manage stress levels and achieve overall holistic health.

“The Nutrition for Life campaign embodies LAC’s commitment to inspire Singaporeans to lead healthier and more fulfilling lifestyles. We believe in empowering individuals to prioritise not just physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. Our range of proprietary blends is a step towards helping people seamlessly incorporate supplements into their daily lives. Instead of popping multiple pills, these exclusive blends formulated with  scientifically-proven ingredients encourage easy and fuss-free consumption with just one single supplement that can be consumed on-the-go for multi-hatting Singaporeans,” says Cynthia Poa, CEO, LAC Global.

A Photographic Essay Hong Kong Reminiscence: Document of Hong Kong’s Old Stores was designed by Chan Hei Shing from Hei Shing Book Design. The book is divided into four chapters: Clothing, Food, Accommodation and Transportation, showcasing the information of 25 old stores in Hong Kong from author Hiuman Lam’s in-person visits. The volume introduces Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage and displays traditional craftsmanship and culture. The book focuses on stirring the public’s memory and connecting it with the beauty of the city’s intangible cultural heritage.

Since 2017, founders of @streetsignhk, Kevin Mak and Ken Fung have explored ways to sustain Hong Kong’s signboard culture, promoting signboard-streetscape as urban cultural heritage by exploring in-depth signboard stories of Hong Kong and the city’s building regulations. In their series, graphic neon-light elements from the recycled signboards that once shone on Hong Kong’s streets are collaged into a new neon art. The display is dedicated to exploring and continuing the possibilities of neon sign craftsmanship, design and urban culture through design in practice.

A Study on Hong Kong Beiwei Calligraphy & Type Design, published by Adonian Chan, documented eight years of his research into Hong Kong Beiwei calligraphy and the Zansyu design type, which are both preservation of culture and a reflection on how heritage can inspire designs today.

Allan Fan and Poe Cheung from Studio Nous, a Hong Kong multidisciplinary design studio, introduce Radiant Eateries: Hong Kong Restaurant Neon Sign Drawings. This book incorporates four additional fluorescent inks to achieve distinctive day and night visual effects, guiding readers to appreciate and re-examine 1950s-to-1970s neon sign artworks from two perspectives – day and night.

Skale and Cryptopia Collaborates

Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Nov 21, 2023 – (ACN Newswire) – With great excitement, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Skale, a zero-gas fee EVM blockchain. As a pioneering free-to-play-and-earn game that embodies the spirit of a new era in gaming, this alliance is set to transform the gaming landscape by empowering players to combine fun and earning opportunities without the constraints of excessive fees or financial barriers.

We are living in exciting times. Gradually, we are entering an era where games are not only for fun but also offer a seamless play-to-earn model. This era is set to change how we think about blockchain games.

Why is this important?

Like every other industry, the P2E (play-to-earn) gaming world is undergoing a remarkable transformation. We’re witnessing the rise of an era where on-chain gaming isn’t just a form of entertainment, but also a source of income, without causing stress to players.

In this ever-evolving landscape, Cryptopia doesn’t just emerge as a game, but as a pioneer of this new free-to-play-and-earn era. It represents a gateway that allows players to dive into a world where enjoyment and earning are not just parallel but intertwined paths.

However, realizing the vision of a game that’s both free to play and rewarding to engage with presents its unique challenges. The most significant of these is cost – the hidden fees and expenses that often limit a player’s earnings and enthusiasm. This is where Skale becomes not just relevant, but revolutionary.

How does Skale come in?

By integrating Skale’s zero gas fee EVM technology, we’re dismantling the financial barriers that will hinder the full potential of Cryptopia’s play-to-earn model. This technology is a literal game-changer. It paves the way for a gaming experience where the focus shifts back to what’s important: the joy of playing and the thrill of earning. We’ve made free-to-play-and-earn easy!

This partnership with Skale is more than just about technology integration; it’s a bold statement. It declares that Skale is out to reshape the gaming experience, to make it more inclusive, more rewarding, and more thrilling than ever before. It’s our commitment to the players – to provide a platform where their passion for gaming aligns with tangible rewards, without the burden of hidden costs. We envision a future where the boundaries between playing for fun and playing for profit blur, creating a compelling and empowering gaming experience.

What this means to Cryptopia

Skale’s innovative Layer-2 scaling solution will bring a multitude of benefits to Cryptopia, enabling it to fully realize its potential as a leading P2E game:

  • Multichain Expansion and Interoperability:  By integrating with Skale, Cryptopia advances towards its goal of becoming a multichain platform. This not only enhances the game’s interoperability across various blockchain networks but will also broaden Cryptopia’s appeal to a larger audience.
  • Enhanced Scalability: Skale’s highly scalable network is designed to handle a large volume of transactions and user interactions, ensuring that Cryptopia can grow without facing performance bottlenecks. This will provide a smooth and uninterrupted gaming experience for all players, even as the game’s popularity expands.
  • Increased Security and Reliability: By leveraging Skale’s secure and decentralized infrastructure, Cryptopia can provide a safe and reliable gaming environment for its users.
